Let's see, playing along with who I'd vote for.

Brady Anderson - heck, no

Harold Baines - no

Rod Beck - no

Bert Blyleven - Resoundingly yes. I don't know why he isn't in yet.

Dave Concepcion - no

Andre Dawson - I'm starting to lean yes, because of his defensive reputation.

Shawon Dunston - Shawn-ometer says, Are you kidding?

Chuck Finley - no

Travis Fryman - no

Rich Gossage - Yes. I don't know how Sutter is in and he's out.

Tommy John - Yes. He does get bonus points from me for being a human guinea pig.

David Justice - no

Chuck Knoblauch - no

Don Mattingly - no

Mark McGwire - Yes, maybe, depending on how I'm feeling on PEDs on any given day.

Jack Morris - no

Dale Murphy - no

Robb Nen - no

Dave Parker - no

Tim Raines - Yes

Jim Rice - no

Jose Rijo - no (frankly I'm surprised to see his name on the ballot)

Lee Smith - no

Todd Stottlemyre - no (I'm surprised to see his name on the ballot too)

Alan Trammell - Yes, although I don't feel very strongly about it.

Pretty weak group, relatively, overall. So definitely yes to Blyleven, Gossage, John, and Raines with nods, if I'm feeling generous, to Dawson, McGwire, and Trammell.

I would think this would be the best (and perhaps last) chance on the writers' ballot for Rice, Gossage and Blyleven. On the Veteran's Committee ballot, I'd look for Doug Harvey & Marvin Miller to get picked.

Billy Martin is an interesting case, when you combine his work as a player and manager. He probably won't get picked, but if he did, it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.

Blyleven, Murphy, Raines...that is all...maybe morris...but his era is high for an ace even by today's standards

I had been leaning toward Morris, but . . . I don't think he ever won a Cy Young, and he was only an All-Star five times. I don't know if the vague "best pitcher of the decade" thing really works. He did rack up 250 wins, though.

You can see last year's results here - link.

Gossage was right in the neighborhood, followed by Rice, Dawson and Blyleven. I think Raines is the only new face that will even come close this time around, much like Sutter's induction, it could be Gossage alone next July.

McGwire - no, I see no chance of him tripling his vote total from last year.

Tick, tick, tick....15th (and final time) on the ballot - Dave Concepcion.

14th time around - Jim Rice, Tommy John.

my vote would go no, no, no, no--in that order. of course i'm one who wants to keep baseball's HOF for the super-elite players and not let in everyone who was just very good.

Robb Nen's been out of baseball for that long already??? Dang, and I was thinking Chuck Finley was a 6th outfielder on the Angles just a couple years ago.

quick quiz, who's who?

385/425 .851 cs%
401/419 .808 cs%

is that really a significant difference?

Those two players are Raines and Henderson. I like Raines, I think he is worthy of, and will eventually receive, election to the Hall of Fame - but there is a significant difference.
