Rotoworld Trade Candidates and possible trade scenarios

Let me ask this question. Am I wrong to value Matt Kemp more than I would value Delmon Young? They would seem to have a comparable amount of service time. Kemp has more speed, while Young has a higher ceiling for power, but Kemp would seem to be more likely to fulfill his potential. Also, Kemp has the ability to play all three positions while Young is relegated to the corners. And while it should go without mentioning, Kemp won't bring down upon his team the ire of the ump with each glance.

If Doug were to trade Ben, he'd get young players who are ready to step into their eventually role. I suppose it's possible he would take a Yo like prospect with no time in the bigs, but it's much moreso that he'd take guys like Ethier, young players with big league experience and some success.

That's another reason why the ATL swap sounds like an actual conversation...there's no AA prospects mentioned. All 3 ATL players are young, successful, and have had success in the majors...just the type Doug often mentions.

I'd give up Parra for Nathan (if a long term deal was in place), but not Chad Cordero. C. Cordero's gotten progressively worse two years in a row and I don't consider him a top 10 closer. He's allowed 21 HR in 148 innings in 06 and 07 in a pitcher friendly park. Nathan on the other hand is easily one of the top 3-4 closers in the game and has shown no signs of a dropoff. I like Parra, but he's still untested at the major league level.

If Colorado gave up Fuentes for Capuano though, I make that deal right now then I'd put Nathan on the backburner until July, when I make a real run at him too.

I'm shocked Nathan is as old as he is. Seeing that, and how Joe has been babied compared to Chad Cordero, I'd prefer Chad. Chad actually has better numbers on the road, so DC has not helped him. He's been used in more than just save situations as well, which would tell me he might be suffering from overuse a bit.

Nathan's going to be hitting the FA market as a 34 year-old, I would have guessed 30.

Al, Chad Cordero blew 9 saves and allowed a hit per inning last year. He logged 7 more innings than did Nathan who's never come close to allowing a hit per inning his entire career playing in the AL.

Cordero accumulates saves bue those are not numbers of premier closers.

I know he wasn't specifically mentioned in the Dodgers suggestion, but Broxton could sure be our closer if he were included in a deal for Sheets. Only thing keeping him from closing for the Dodgers already is Saito (which isn't a bad reason). But he could step right in and close for us. And I love the thought of Matt Kemp in the OF.

Seven innings almost every year, and many more games as well. Those add up over the course of things. Frankie was used almost identically to Nathan last year, and other than a couple times in the last couple weeks, he was babied (notice how he recalled that:)). Chad was obviously used more, as DC was not in the lead nearly as often. You will blow more saves if you are asked to get 4-6 outs, not to mention, I would say he probably had a lot of one-run leads, given the Nationals' offense.

I'd rather have Chad at $6-7M than Nathan at $13M, without a doubt. I agree Joe is likely superior going forward, as he has been in the past, but not by a huge amount,

Kemp does have awesome talent, but he has some real warts too. He has drawn the ire of his teammates because of his lackadaisical attitude, and word is the Dodgers front office isn't confident his maximise his talents because of his work ethic. He will be moved this offseason while his value may be at its highest. The more he plays, the more other teams might see his warts. I'm not saying this guy is Elijia Dukes or anything, but i can see why LA is looking to deal a top prospect who could actually fill a big need they have.
