Of Note:

Ben Sheets

Possibility:

To Dodgers for Matt Kemp & Jonathan Meloan

Chad Cordero:

Possibility:

To Brewers for Manny Parra, TGJ, and Alcides Escobar

Possibility:

To Brewers for Chris Capuano

I think I would like the first two proposals, but don't really like the Cappy for Fuentes deal

That's funny because of the three my initial reaction was no to the first two and yes to the third.

Probably speculation that is no more than many scenarios posted on BF.net. Rotoworld is pretty good for fantasy baseball reasons, but I've never really relied on them for trades or insider league/team information. I do like the Cappy/Fuentes deal. The Sheets deal would be nice (Kemp is going to be a good one), but we may need more in return. Sheets for Kemp/Kershaw and I like it a lot more!!

Kemp isn't really a prospect anymore.

Kemp is ready to go.

While I don't necessarily buy that particular deal, the Dodgers mentioned aren't exactly 19 year olds in A ball. Kemp has over 400 big league ABs. Meloan was in AA/AAA, but he could be plugged into a major league bullpen pretty readily...he's 23, former Pac10 pitcher, in 2007 had almost 14K/9IP in AA, about 9 in AAA, combined ERA around 2 despite time in Las Vegas / PCL.

Edit: The Cordero package is too rich for me, but I'd do Cappy for Fuentes.

I like Cappy for Fuentes.
My preference would be to trade Sheets, as I think he would net us a larger return. If we are able to make a quality Sheets trade - we need Cappy in our rotation.

However, if Sheets is still on the Brewers in '08 - Cappy for Fuentes would seem an appropriate trade for Milwaukee and Colorado.

If the Brewers made it Jackson instead of Parra, then I'd consider that deal with the Nationals.

Is Jackson even a prospect anymore?

If i'm the Nationals and trading Cordero, i'd have very little interest in Jackson beyond being a back end of the trade throw in

The Sheets deal is the one that made me salivate. Corey Hart and Matt Kemp in the outfield! If Billy has a bounceback year, that outfield is set! And you have to remember that we're selling an $11million Benny for a pre-arby Matt Kemp. And, as noted earlier, Jon Meloan could be a godsend to our bullpen next year, and he is under our control for a minimum of 6 years. The Fuentes deal doesn't appeal to me as much as a Cappy for Cordero trade, with a bit of Escobar to go with the much-maligned southie...I mean southpaw.

I was thinking the same thing about Jackson. IMO he has very little value and if the Crew doesn't want him the should move him for whatever the can get in return. At best he looks like a lefty specialist out fo the pen.

Regarding the Sheets Trade: You can always shoot for the moon in expecations of what your going to get back, but in reality sometimes its not that high. While I'd love to have another chip in the Sheets trade above, or have like Broxton even Loney instead of Meloan, this is what the Sheets market may just be. You do have to realize that he's a year away from Free agency. Kemp is a stud though.

Regarding Cordero Trade: Cordero would instantly upgrade our BP and become our closer. However you really have to project our Parra and see what he can become. He's been bogged down with injuires the majority of his minor league career, which I would think that would mean the BP is his future. With that being said when does have his impact, this season? or 1-2 years down the line. If it's a few years away then make the trade. However the more I think abou tit the more I think Parra could be a viable steady BP member this year. TGJ not the biggest fan of, love his D and his dad routing for us, but thats about it. Escobar may not hit enough to become a regular SS, but at the same time he's super young and has super D.

Regarding Cappy Trade: Would love to make that trade. Cappy I would hope would recover and pitch well but he's too much of an uncertainty. Fuentes is a good BP and could become our closer.

I highly doubt all of these would happen, but at the same time I could see maybe 1-2 of them happining that is if their legit. The Sheets and Cappy trade I would think wuold happen most likely.

and guys, we need to serioulsy remember who Jackson is. He's the guy now going into his what 3rd year at AAA. What in gods name do you think the Nats would see in him?. Any team for that mater. It seems you guys alwasy wana shovel Jackson off for some stud pitcher. He's not going to become anything folks.

The Cappy for Fuentes deal is one I proposed when I anticipated Cappy's annuel meltdown last year, Its a perfect deal for both teams. Cappy is a perfect fit for Coors, as he rarely throws breaking balls.

Fuentes is really outstanding once you curve his numbers for the Coors Field effect. After you do that, you could argue he would be an even better closer than Coco, and thats really saying something. Fuentes is entering the final season before free agency, but I'd be much more comfortable resigning him than Coco, as he doesn't have the conditioning issues Coco has.
