I hope WSSP is wrong again like they were with all the "official" Brewers trades that never happened. I'm guessing Prince didn't win it, but WSSP really needs to step up their research before they announce things (ie the Dunn trade, etc).

Ive given up all hope on what criteria the MVP vote is based on. By all accounts it is some combination of counting stats (both Team dependent and individual), home team market, team success, playing the in the field, but not pitching, clutchiness, grittiness, leadership (both real and imagined), being a crappy fielder is better than not fielding at all, while good defense is generally ignored.

ESPN has their MVP picks up. Of the 20 "votes" cast by their staff Jimmy Rollins won with 13. Holliday and Wright shared the rest of the votes. Prince got zero.

well, if AB are the most important contribution to a team, then maybe Rollins deserves MVP. Otherwise, he should be 3rd or 4th (or later) on most ballots.

I guess I resigned myself to Holliday beating out Fielder for MVP, but it would be ludicrous if he doesn't even get ANY votes.

Rollins winning would mean a continuation of last year where the AL MVP award was given to a guy who isn't even the best player on his team. Maybe its an alternating thing?

EDIT:It almost certain that 3 of the most deserving candidates, Wright, Jones, and Ramirez, have almost no shot And Utley seems to have been tossed aside. Cabrera might get a few 8th place votes.

well, the two writers for the brewers better pick him.

I'm glad Holliday didn't win. And now I'm sure we're going to hear plenty of whining out of COL about how he was robbed.

I'm happy Prince got 4 first place votes and was on every ballot (only Rollins and Fielder did so this year).

Nice, Braun got 2 10th place votes!

i am going to guess those came from the 2 milwaukee writers....

edit: id like to know the dingbat that voted prince 8th too.

I'd like to know who the heck gave Carlos Marmol a vote. He had a nice year in relief but come on! That is just plain silly. It was probably the same writer that gave Alfonso Soriano a third place vote.
