David Dejesus?

polwonks

Bush may fit the financial profile, but he doesn't fit the #3 starter profile. If I were the Royals I'd hold onto DeJesus as well, who is signed to a very friendly contract through 2010 with a relatively modest option year for 2011.

Again, I get the sense that the Royals aren't motivated to trade DeJesus, and to do so they would be looking for a pitcher more like Carlos Villanueva than Dave Bush. I'm not suggesting that the Brewers trade Villy to make that happen, that's just my feeling on the situation.

Thanks for clarifying. It stinks that both Cappy & Bush are currently at a 'buy/sell low' state, since it obviously behooves the team to utilize one of them to help with the 3B situation, and to simply clear out the cluster at SP.

They only wanted to talk about a RH bat, and now they got that. KC may well not have the cash for any of the SP, as they've blown their budget for that 67th win.

I sure think Dejesus would be a nice fit, but it takes two to tango. The Royals are well aware the Brewers are one of two MLB teams with SP to spare, and they don't care to dance.

Al, the Royals 40 man roster has one righthanded hitting OF, Jose Guillen. Their starters at the infield corners, Gordon and Gload, both bat lefthanded. They still need a righthanded bat somewhere. Now there are plenty still on the open market including two that they had last year in Sanders and Brown. Others include Mench and Shannon Stewart. None of those guys are budget busters.

A more aggressive GM wouldn't wait for a team to call him. He'd stay after them. Maybe the Royals are waiting to see if they could get a pitcher in free agency, but to say "oh we asked about that guy a month ago" and just leave it there rubs me the wrong way. I want my GM burning the phone lines to get the guy he wants.

I think its unfair to assume that because Melvin mentioned that he talked to the Royals a month ago, we assume he hasn't been doing anything in the mean time. Now Melvin is definitely a more passive GM than some others, but just because he isn't telling the fans about it doesn't mean he isn't trying to make a deal.

Truth is, we have absolutely no idea how passive or aggressive or passive/aggressive Melvin really is.

It's just the natives getting restless. You'd think the Cubs had aquired an All-Star at each position to hear some fans tell it. Doug is a very meticulous, savvy GM. He doesn't rush into deals, and certainly doesn't get fleeced very often - I'm grateful for that quality.

Well, the Brewers do not have a RH bat to deal either. I'm not sure why KC would come to us if they still need one.

Plenty of teams still need pitching, and eventually, Lohse and Fogg will sign, and the trades will begin to be discussed.

i agree it has to do with hearing no rumours for a while that are drivingthe fans nuts, but i rather have melvin keep the trade talking close to the vest.

I have to believe he working on something and it might not be a big as some of us are expecting.

I hope we didn"t over value the Arms Of Bush,Cappy and Vargas though.
