Ned grant me the serenity

to accept the things you do I cannot change;

courage to change the channel when you do them;

and the wisdom to never bat Mench third.

 

Playing one game at a time;

Battling one game at a time;

Accepting Days Off as the pathway to playoffs;

Taking, as Ned did, this franchises' hopes

as it is, not as I would have it;

Trusting that Ned will make all things right

if I surrender to his lineups;

That I may be reasonably happy in this season

and supremely happy with Ned

Forever or until next game.

I was glum this afternoon in my kitchen getting a glass of juice right after the game and my wife asked me what was up, so I told her.

 

She goes, "What, they play 162 games a year, right? So that's 162 potential days to be ruined? By something you can't control? That's ridiculous."

This isn't a Season Over post, although it sounds like it.

 

Sunday evening I mentally conceded that the Brewers will not make the playoffs, and I honestly feel much better now.

 

Last week this game would have had me banging my head on my desk, but thanks to my lower expectations, my mental health and interpersonal relationships are on the mend.

 

Now please surprise me the rest of the way out, Brewers. If not, we cool.
