New collection pictures thread!

Nice pics, bikeage77. . .

Is that a Yount gamer? And whose bat is that underneath Jaha's?

And what is that brass colored plaque at the right edge of the 3rd pic? I have one like that from 1975. . .not sure if they made others. . .

You can buy a mat set at a Michael's or Banner crafts and mat them yourself. It cost about $10 for a sheet of matting. I don't know the exact dimensions for a mat, but they are pretty big. Also, there are pre-cut mats available at those stores. They range from about $2.99 each on up, and Michaels always has 40-50% coupons either online or in their Sunday ads.

Brian - you seem to know what you are talking about...I have a question for you...I've got this newspaper and I bought a poster frame and just cut it down...it doesn't look like it has really yellowed yet, but will it be alright in a frame like this? I don't want it to yellow really bad...I heard that lamination keeps it from doing that, but I'm assuming that there is acid in that, which would hurt the signature...also, I think it is like a plexi glass, is that ok? thanks, for the help,

-Brian

Brian, Even in the best possible circumstances it will be hard to keep the newspaper from yellowing. The paper itself contains acids, and it further gets slowly oxidized by what is naturally in trees and plants. The newspaper should be surrounded in between pages with acid free paper in between each page. If its one sheet, then the back should have the acid free paper on it. I don't know how you would frame, as a single page of paper may be too flimsy to mat. If you press on to the frame "glass", you need to use a mylar sheet material. Its like the front plastic sheets that are on the front of college papers(or what was used when I was in school).

If your brave enough, you can CSI your way to get the acids out of the paper. I've never tried it, and don't know what it would do to the autograph. Its something like soaking in club soda and milk of magnesium. I'm sure you can google it to find the recipe. I have seen people take T-206 babeball cards and soak them in bathtubs to take off the glue, and scrapbook backings from when people used to put their cards in scrapbooks. So, I guess it is possible.

Paper is just so fragile, thats why a lot of currency from the late 1800's and early 1900's literally falls apart in your hands as you hold it.

Jim, to answer your questions above. The Yount is a Mitchell Ness that I got 5 or 6 years ago. It's probably not authentic, but it's framed and matted, and no one can tell otherwise. The bat is of Carlos Lee. I got it last year on clearance in the fan zone for 30 bucks! And yes that plaque is from 1975, I went to some baseball card shops liquidation sale and got some odds and ends there for cheap. That's also where I got those starting lineups and pins for a few dollars each.

Bikeage, very nice. I love the Juan Nieves photo / autograph. Very, very nice. I'm impressed with the amount of signed balls as well. The bobbles are impressive as well. Very nice.

Brian, I love that Jenkins poster. I still kick myself for not grabbing that paper when I had the chance. That it's signed and framed is even better.

I haven't really added a lot to my colletion recently - partly because I've flat run out of room. But I do have a couple of new(er) photos to share. Mostly, just some of the cool things I like. My space is really limited, but I do what I can with what space I have.

You can't really see it here, but the top of the desk is a bunch of random autographs under custom cut plexi glass.

20fry, your room is completely amazing... I watched that youtube tour you did, and stole your idea for the bottle bucket-ticket bucket...I got that nieves photo at some big show in chicago in June or July, he did a signing in Waukesha a week before which I heard nothing about.

I had that Jenkins thing from the Journal hanging on the fridge of my old house, but between my roommates and I it was trashed within a few months, and none of us were big fans of Jenkins anyway, oh well.

My friend works for the Onion, and is gonna get me a metal newspaper box this week that I plan on using for all my newspapers, once I repaint it, I don't have the wall space to frame any of them for now, though I'll probably get the wild card one from last year matted, and figure out where to put that.

The Wild Card photos are from various sources (Getty and AP I think) and were custom printed. There are so many more great photos I'd like to get printed, but the cost is prohibitive. Brian, I've actually been thinking about ordering the Prince/Braun home run derby print that you have. I love that photo.

I missed the Nieves signing at Waukesha Sports Cards. Just one more thing I forgot to take care of. I've missed so many this year.

The locker was one of the best ideas I've ever had. The best thing about it is, there are a 100 different styles to chose from and you really cant go wrong. I just put the shelf in this past weekend.

Bikeage, the news paper box idea is a great one. I had a smaller newspaper rack and I lost it in a move about 10 years ago (along with a game used Glenn Braggs bat). Kind of sucks because now all my papers are in plastic tote bins in my closet.

I think the coolest newspaper item I have is the sports sections from the JS from Braun's 1st MLB game. I just have not found a cool frame for it.

i actually had that in the frame that that jenkins is in, but i put the jenkins in over it, just because i didn't think that meant that much...and it didn't look good in that frame.

I just want to start out by saying that my room is a complete wreck...hopefully now that the season is over I will be able to get some things organized but I have cards, photos, pens, markers, everywhere...I can't even find everything...I'm out of room, so a lot of the stuff is stuffed away in binders and boxes in my closet...I cannot wait until I actually have a place to display everything...but it won't be for a while...as you can see most of my stuff isn't on display as I said because I can't find room, and also, because I have no money to get it all framed...

Anyway, we will start out with pictures from the room, as I said, it is a mess:

The majority of my autographs I've gotten in person, some I have gotten through trade, and I've bought some of them...

been in the process of pairing down my bobblehead collection (so there are wholes in places):

http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e378/billyhallfan/100_7994.jpg

All my signed cards...I need another album:

http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e378/billyhallfan/100_8003.jpg

All of my signed baseballs stored away: if anyone cares, they are all viewable here: http://s694.photobucket.com/albums/vv301/briannelson/Baseball/Autographed%20Baseballs/

http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e378/billyhallfan/100_7996.jpg

Then I have tons of photos all in binders, cause again, I have no more wall space: you can see them here:

http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e378/billyhallfan/100_7999.jpg

Then here is everything that is stored away, a Ryan Braun 20x30, and a Braun/Prince 24x36:

http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e378/billyhallfan/100_8017.jpg

Then here are all the 16x20 photos that I still need to frame up...I'm hoping that in 4-5 years when I can get them framed that someone will give me wholesale, because otherwise, it will be a fortune...

And three 11x14's too:

I've also got some photos with players, I plan someday to get these blown up, and make a piece with them, not sure how yet though...(have others also, but that is enough of my picture on here...)

I know my friend Aaron did. You may know him, or have probably seen him. Shorter guy, always is at the lot, and usually has a Villanueva player tee on. Sometimes he has his uncle and younger cousin (also named Aaron) with him, and often with Annoying Nick.

I was dumb and didn't even think of going down near the dugout. All I got was a buncha confetti, 8 pieces to be exact, since #8 got the winning homerun. And part of a streamer, which I dont even think survived the move.

Did not get one at the game my seats were just a section to the right of were Bruan hit the homerun that day in the bleachers loge level.

However I did get two of them with the auctions the Brewers had the past few weeks As I see a few other BF members did as well. One is a green Cooks Dry bottle and the other is a clear Andre Peach Passion orange labeled bottle.

I see now the Brewers raised the price on the bottles and balls from the wildcard clinch they used to have a reserve for $50 on both. and Bikeage said they are at the fanzone for $150 WOW.

Went to MP l;ast week but did not make it to the main LF fanzone to see what they had but did go to the terrace level store to buy shirts on sale and got a Ozzie Chavez locker room nameplate for $20 lolz.

My goodness man. Brian, what an awesome collection of autographs!!!

And Zachlaka! You bought my Chavez name plate!!!! Noooooooo!!!! I wanted that. I was there at the start of the last home stand and literally held it in my hands before deciding against it. Long story short, a few days later I was back at MP & I decided to go back and get the Chavez nameplate and a Chavez jersey (kind of as a gift / joke for my son - long story) but I was to late. At least I know it wound up in good hands!
