Not in a row. The vocab level in the lower right. It goes up as you get them right and down when you're wrong. I take it as the peak people have gotten to. 44 here so far.

Wow...you guys are good. Only could get to 36. It's frustrating. It takes so long to move up, but if you start getting some wrong, you fall quickly.

Same here; but I'm assuming my linguistics degree (though earned quite a while ago) is helping me make decent guesses. For some words I can kind of tell the origin, which helps make a more decent guess. It's not unlike the spelling bee contestants who ask for a word's origin.

Some words just "look like", say, nouns, and if some of the possible answers are adjectives, I can do some eliminating.

 

(Also, play it long enough and you start to see some repeats - at least, I have.)

As far as I can tell, the scoring is sort of like a GMAT, or similar test. It's very difficult to get a high level without getting the first 10 or so right.
