County Stadium Seats. . .Safe for Kids?

With all the recent news regarding the safety of toys, I've got lead on the brain. It got me to thinking about other hazards in our house. . .

 

Does anyone have factual knowledge of the safety of the paint on County Stadium seats?

 

I have two pair of the wooden seats on their stands, pretty much as they were taken out of the Stadium. I keep them dusted and clean, but they are original, with multiple coats and shades of flaking green paint.

 

Has anyone had this paint tested?

 

I think the EPA banned lead from housepaint in 1978, but these seats are presumably from the early 50s, and at least some of that paint is original to when the seats were installed.

 

I don't want to restore them--I want to keep them as is, but I also want to have a house that's kid-friendly.

 

Any info is appreciated. . .

The only real hazard is if you have kids that lick the seats, even if there is lead in the paint.
