Wisconsin Badgers Basketball

In 2005 when UW made the Elite 8, they beat an 11, a 14 and then a 10, then lost in a close high scoring game to a 1 seed.

Not just a 1-seed, the eventual national champions, and UW gave them their closest game in the tourney.

I was worried about Davidson, but now in looking at it it was kind of the perfect storm for them to beat GU. I don't see UW making 20 turnovers against them, but I do think they will be a lot like CSU-Fullerton but instead of being 6'5" they will be 6'7". (Yes, they are listed at 6'8", but in watching them yesterday I would put it at 6'7".) Davidson only had one point off their bench, and that isn't going to win a lot of tourney games.

Flowers hasn't played all that spectacular defense thus far in the tourney so I have a hard time assuming he'll just erase Curry. As others have noted he got worked over during the CSF game, so hopefully he's a little bitter about it and plays like he did against Illiinois in the Big Ten tourney. Curry is a heck of a player, to win UW just needs to contain him and take care of everyone else on defense. On offense pound the ball down low until Davidson proves they can stop it, which I'm surprised that GU didn't do. I know Hibbert got into foul trouble, but Davidson has no real inside game out of a big man. They get all their points in the paint off of dribble penetration.

That just gave me goosebumps, esp. considering the Badgers' position right now.

I don't know if I'd say he got "worked over." Akognon took about ten or twelve 25 footers and probably made like half of them, there isn't really a whole lot you can do about that. He'll sure have his work cut out for him on Curry, though.

Bo Ryan is going to be on AM670 The Score with Mike North in a few minutes.

I love the fact that Davidson is getting as much love, respect, and admiration over the last week. Love it! Meanwhile the Badgers can't win if Davidson scores in quick bunches blah blah blah. I guarantee Kansas, besides preparing for Villanova is rooting hardcore for Davidson too.

This is a cool ESPN article.

Oxymoron alert! Oxymoron alert!

"Bo Ryan may lack the flash (with the exception of the Hambone and Soulja Boy), but he's led the Badgers to back-to-back 30-win seasons."

That's the caption for the inset photo. Nice! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif I showed that Soulja Boy video to my coworker (knows and cares nothing about college sports) and she was in tears from laughing so hard.

Evan Anderson has joined Vander Blue as future Badgers. That closes the book on the 2010 recruiting class. So, I guess Bo Ryan can get the "elite 5 star guys" after all (he's rated the top center in that class and number five overall by Rivals, number 10 overall by Scout). Of course, it always helps when those guys come from the area. As of right now, I don't think there are any scholarships left, but if Jamil Wilson would join up as well, we just might have a national championship contender at UW in a few years.

Anderson's a four start according to scout.com but he's still the highest ranked recruit Ryan's ever gotten - granted his ranking could change over the next couple of years.

Yes, he's good.
