The guy has a good amount of pop in his bat, but for whatever reason, his batting average has fallen off the face of the Earth the past couple years after being a .300ish hitter. Seems like another buy-low trade for the Reds, much like the Brandon Phillips acquisition a couple years ago.

The "whatever reason" is that pitchers know they don't need to throw him a strike because he swings at everything. Phillips has some similar issues, but he has a good deal more speed, so he gets some more basehits.

To me this is a good trade. Cantu showed a great deal of potential during his first season, but due to injury everything has kinda fallen off. Doesnt seem like they gave up much which makes me wish the brewers would have pursued him.

Heres a guy who if I'm not mistaking drove in 100 runs a couple years ago.Good enough reason to take a shot.
