Crazy linebreaks

I notice in my posts that there are linebreaks where I don't intend them to be -- Is that a function of my smaller laptop screen, generally I type a block of text without any hard returns -- should I be doing otherwise?

EDIT: I notice that this happens when I use quick reply and not when I start a topic or use "add reply"
