The "Welcome Thread"

As a new-comer to the forums I was wondering if there was any interest in a welcome thread for new folks so that when we join.

I think it would enable those of us getting to the party late to at least get our foot in the door as well as giving you vets an opportunity to post your bios so that we at least have a basic footing as to who is a funny person, a more serious person, etc.

Just a thought. Lots of great information to be had here, so expect to see me around. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

Greetings, Madtown, and welcome to the site.

Thank you for creating The Welcome Thread. If you're new here, say hello in this thread. If you want to welcome a "new guy", this is the place.

OK, Madtown, pressure time....tell us about you. First favorite Brewer, how long you've been a fan, etc.

Who: Tim Somers

Where: Madison, WI

What: Reebok Store Manager

How Long: As long as I can remember. Been a Brewers fan prior to '82, was at game 5 in Milwaukee and thought the Brewers had it won heading back to St. Louis.

First Favorite Brewer: Sixto Lezcano and Gorman Thomas we probably my "favorites" however players like Cecil Cooper, Gumbo and Robin held their places high up on the list.

I've been through the ringer with this team more than I would have liked and I appreciate the fresh start that the team has gotten with Mark Attanasio. I also appreciate the clubs attitude of promoting from within. Would I like to see some FA action on a big scale this year? Not as much as the Cubs did last year, but spending some money would help. A veteran SP and some bullpen help put this team in great position to contend once again in 2008.

After reading a lot of the current threads on this board yesterday, I'm glad that I stumbled across this forum. The people seem to have opinions backed up by stats. I'm good at that too... http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

You'll have pretty much no problem fitting in here, then.

Welcome, man.

Thank you everybody. If anyone is in the Madison area and needs a good deal on shoes or apparel, look me up on State Street. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

I don't think they'd like me too much at Lambeauleap as not only am I not a Packer fan, I really don't like pro football either. Give me college or let me sleep on Sundays.

BTW, if my avatar is too annoying, let me know. I'm sure I can scrape something up other than this one.

Thanks again for the welcome!

Tim, welcome! Question: Why does the Reebok store close for like half the year after the holidays?

The store that was there is what we refer to as a Concept Store. Basically, that means it's a full-priced store with limited edition shoes, apparel, etc. That store is gone as it just wasn't making any money. They closed in February and our District Manager thought that an outlet store would fit better in a college setting and we re-opened the location in June.

While we don't have the limited edition stuff (or the Bucky stuff) that the other store had, we've got a good selection of shoes and apparel for men and women all at outlet store prices. They're not the new models, but they're all brand new.

Well here is my first post on these boards. Disappointed I didn't find this site earlier.

About myself....

Who: Adam Blanke

Where: Manitowoc WI.

What: Supervisor for Kohler Co.

How Long: Been a Brewer fan seems like forever. I use to listen to every Brewer game on the radio as a kid and keep score. I attended two of the 82 World Series games

First favorite Brewer: I would have to say Gorman. Although there really wasn't a player from that era I didn't like.

A little more about myself. I collect everything I can Brewer related much to my wifes dismay. My rec room is like a temple to baseball. I also collect Mcfarlane MLB figures and have pretty much everyone made. My family (wife, and son) attend as many Brewer games as we can, which usually equates to around 10 a year.
