Bucks beat Cavs in dramatic fashion

milwaukeesportsfan
Mo is an average PG and paid like an average PG.

Mo is being paid like an above-average PG, especially in light of the extensions signed by a number of younger players this off-season.

And I honestly would not consider Mo's in-game decision making anywhere near average among PGs.

Wow Yi showed what all the fuss was about tonight.

The fact that Charlie Bell was running the point during crunch time speaks volumes. Nine assists now in three games for Mo. It is only three games, but that's awful.

Yi was awesome tonight! So smooth on the jumper, should've been to the line a few more times when he got hammered but the refs (who were horrible btw) didn't call anything. Redd had a great night as well 25/9/5 and Bell played well. I also liked what Ruffin did in his limited time, he's our new Brian Skinner.

Charlie Bell is now posting on realgm under the name "flintstone" so if you have an account go ask him questions in the thread he started. If you don't I'd recommend reading the thread anyways.

If there's something you'd like me to ask him and you don't want to make an account post it here and I'll post it over there.

They really should unban me. Been like 10 months. :-/ It is kinda funny looking at the forum and seeing how pessimistic and overreacting you guys are and then realize I was probably the worst one during my time there.

But yea, I'm very pleased with Yi's progress. I really believe he can be a star in this league. All he needs is to get accustomed to the NBA game, get his confidence up, and of course, get stronger. I really like the Chris Bosh comparison. He really does deserve to be starting right now. Only "19" years old.

Mo has really soured me. I didn't really like that we gave him a huge contract in the summer but knew we couldn't let him walk. S&T with Miami could of been better. I think I'm hopping on the Bell for starting PG bandwagon.

I'm really pissed though that Ersan is rotting overseas when we got scrubs like Storey, Voskul, Noel, Ruffin, and Ivey. I don't understand letting him go even with the minutes when we need him here, now he's not even playing over there.

I've been pretty happy with Bogut too. His defense is alot better and he's challenging shots so far. We know he can rebound and pass. I really wished he worked on his outside shot a bit playing out on the key and stuff. That's something I want him to add to his game in the future.

Dez learned his hook shot from Gadz. :-!

Bell is pretty cool about talking with the fans. He's even meeting some of you guys I think. I was really worried for awhile with what I been hearing that he might be a cancer. Was really hustling yesterday on defense and the good thing was he wasn't the only one. I really like the effort the team is putting on defense, just gotta cover that 3 a lil better.

Wow. Charlie is quite an eloquent guy.

Don't see players who can respond to the craziness of most fans that way http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

Please don't say Ruffin is our new Brian Skinner. Just doesn't sound right. How about our new Scott Williams? From the little I've seen and more of what I've heard Ruffin is an energy hard nosed player. Exactly what the Bucks need. Has anyone else read (I believe I read it somewhere on espn.com) that we actually had to out pay Miami quite a bit to get Mo Williams back? I've only seen it once, so I'm not sure how true that is.

I think it is way to early to be down on Mo. I don't like the fact that he is a shoot first point guard, but let's let the season play out a little bit and see what happens. Big win at home against Chicago. It would be nice to be dominate at home this season. Big game tomorrow against Toronto before heading out to Texas for a few.

No, it's not. Especially given his questionable (at best) decision-making last season, the fans' tolerance of Mo's inability to manage a game should be limited.

At least one good thing will come out of Mo's re-signing: Larry Harris will not be with the Bucks by this time next year.

Williams basically used Miami's interest to get more years and more money from the Bucks, who increased their original offer. Miami could only offer the midlevel exception (about $5.3M) to Williams, but he was making noise about the lack of income tax in Florida helping to make up the difference.

The Journal Sentinel reported in July that the Bucks were offering a five-year, $42M deal (http://www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=632100)

He ended up getting six years, $52M.

But Kohl and his cronies will be, that's a problem unless he decides to give full control to the GM.

Not as big an NBA fan as you guys, so I guess I'm just hoping for clarification. Kohl seems to get a lot of heat as an intrusive owner, so I'm just wondering what has made the Senator manipulative and ways he has hurt the team. Not trying to be argumentative, I just don't know.

Herb has his guys and Larry Harris is definitely one of them. He has made some awful decisions and the team has had one good season in the past 15 years with countless terrible contracts handed out and he's been very slow to react to that type of performance

well it seems like the senator seems to like to more involved in personal decsions that an owner should be. For example, Stotts was hired mainly because the senator liked him when he was here under Karl. His hiring turned out to be disaster. I can't recal specifics and bigger nba fans on this board may, but he has vetoed trades in the past that would of helped the basketball team. Id liken it to the brewers situation, they weren't that good until the Seligs left completely, they hired a real baseball mind in Melvin and let him do as he wanted without getting too involved.

You should go to realgm and read what some people in with ties inside the organization say what goes on. When Kohl is in Washington doing stuff for the Senate he doesn't leave Harris in charge, he leaves attorneys in charge. Trades need to be approved by said attorneys and there were two trades that Harris wanted to make but Kohl wouldn't let him because of the money.

The first trade was Mo and Magloire to Utah for Boozer and their 1st round pick. That would've given us a lineup of Ford-Redd-Simmons-Boozer-Bogut plus the 14th pick in the draft. Instead Harris had to settle for the expiring contracts of Skinner, Ha and Blake.

Then before the draft this year we could've done Simmons and the 6th pick to Phoenix for Shawn Marion. That would've given us a lineup Mo-Redd-Marion-Villanueva-Bogut

So Harris has had plenty of oppurtunities to improve the team and most likely would've improved the team if Kohl hadn't vetoed the trades.

I had never heard that we could have had the Matrix, the Boozer possibility I had heard about though. Both of those trades would have been amazing, and I would say it both cases we would have been huge winners. Mo and Magloire for Boozer? Are you kidding me, that's awesome. Simmons and our 6th pick for the Matrix? Wow...

Those trades seem to be to one sided to have actually been on the table.

I understand the Marion one only if the Suns were in salary dump mode, but why on earth would the Jazz give us Boozer and a top pick for Mo Williams and Magloire? What year was this anyways? 2005?

i think herb is the reason we haven't had a real gm or coach since the george and ernie show a few season ago. Why would quality basketball people want to come into a situation where they have no control. I felt that after Larry told Terry Porter that his job was safe, he was only fired because Herb told Harris to do it. It seems like PR and money always goes ahead of basketball decisions.

Boozer was coming off an injury plagued season and had a big contract. Jerry Sloan has also said that letting Mo walk was one of his biggest mistakes. I think I remember the pick being included but I could be wrong, the rest is true. This was the offseason before this one so it would be 2006.

Very true. But I've never been a Larry fan. He strikes me as the sort of guy who you'd find either chasing ambulances or selling unreliable used cars...
