Brewers who have filed for Free Agency: Cordero, Linebrink, Miller, Koskie, King; Latest: Graffy, Jenkins

Current Brewers that just filed for free agency according to WSSP are Francisco Cordero, Scott Linebrink, Damian Miller, Corey Koskie, and Ray King.

My prediction: Miller and Koskie are gone, King will be kept, and one of Cordero or Linerbrink will be retained, preferably Cordero. Linebrink struggled early, but was solid down the stretch. I think we will make a strong push for Cordero.

my guess is if miller would accept 1 year contract here, he would stay. He did well this year, in a limited role and i think he would thrive if we can get the starter straightened out. I think its good to have someone like him mentoring a young pitching staff. I think they need to bring back one of the 2. id favor linebrink if it would take a long and lucrative deal to keep CoCo.

King did nothing for me while he was here. If he wants to come back on a minor league deal to earn a roster spot, but id hope we can do better for a lefty in the pen than Ray-Ray.

Miller is long gone. He's going to retire.

I doubt it. He said several times during the season that moving into a reserve role should give him a few more years to play. Now, whether it's with the Brewers or not is another question.

I really wish that we could sign all these guys including Koskie. I think Linebrink will make a comeback, and that Damian is perfect for a back up role or player-coach. Coco we need, but alas I fear he is gone. Why couldn't we keep Shouse and King? I think that would allow us to put Parra in the rotation and deal both Cappy and Vargas instead of just one of them. Koskie, I just think he's worth the chance if he takes a small salary laden with incentives. I realize he's a reach though.

Miller has told fans he's going to retire. His body is pretty much shot. This is what he's told me at least. Filing doesn't hurt though. If he gets an amount of money he can't refuse, I'm sure he'll be back. Will he get it? We'll find out...

He's told me. He's said it several times (not to the media) when he is out and about in Milwaukee. He's also told some people inside the Brewers organization (I have a friend who works for them) that he's most likely going to retire. Why does filing hurt? If he gets a big deal, he'll be back. If it's close to the minimum, he'll retire.

I'm not so sure the Brewers are 100% interested in bringing him back and I don't know if Miller wants to play for another team (unless it's big money in his eyes).

I'd rather they have both King and Shouse and let them battle it out with Stetter in the spring for 2 loogy spots rather than one. Heck considering some of the other pen candidates still around, having all 3 might not be a bad idea.

I think the Brewers claiming Munson was a signal that Miller was retiring. His body gave out at the end of 06 and he wore down in 07 too despite a reduced role. His filing just leaves the door open if he changes his mind.

The Brewers have as good of a chance of resigning Coco as they did, Carlos Lee. Coco will get a monster deal from someone.

Unfortunately, I tend to agree. While I'm sure Doug will make it a priority to go after Cordero, I think some team with a bigger budget is going to end up landing him.

I'd be all for King and Shouse in the pen. I'd do it so Parra could go down to AAA to get more innings though. He'd be a great guy to have at AAA for the inveitable injury on the staff. I'm sure DM will look to trade a pitcher but I doubt he'll trade two capable of starting. Pitching is too hard to come by to get rid of to many. One of them in reserve that never gets used is better than one of them being needed and not around IMO. I don't want to see the equivlenat of Winklesas, Hendrickson, Eveland, DLR...the list goes on... on the roster at any point next year.

There needs to be a King Thames version of the bible.

If Miller felt 10 years younger, why were the brewers playing estrada so much then the last two months of the season, given Estrada apparently was being held together by duct tape and chewing gum,

Given the state of catching in the majors I'm sure that Miller would interest several other teams, but I don't buy that he's able to handle even half season duty.

If you take away the damage he did against pittsburg, his numbers don't look so pretty.

A .645 OPS (66 OPS+) doesn't look pretty period. There are worse backup catchers than Miller out there, but you probably could toss Lou Palmisano out there and not lose much offensively. Miller's approaching Blanco/Matheny offensive territory and unlikely to improve.

I still think he's going to retire per him...but money will be offered and will see what he does.

I like idea of having Shouse and King battle it out with Stetter. I think I'd rather have Shouse than King, but King is a great lock room/community type of player. I don't think Stetter is sure thing to be on the roster on opening day. I don't see the Brewers having 2 LOOGYs on the 25 man, but it's not out of the question.
