What About Mike Cameron / Cameron suspended

Good comments Brawndo. I won't argue that Weeks might be more adapt to play CF (and I didn't try to imply he should be at 3B). I think defense is so hard to put into stats. There are plays where a player can't get to a ball and it's a hit. There are plays where a guy with great range gets to it and makes an error -- if his range was bad it'd be ruled a hit and no error. Braun has to improve. What is the question here? Is the question really can Braun improve?

billyhallfan...I don't know what you do for a living, but I thought putting it in our terms (ie not big time baseball players or employees) might help.

I am a senior in high school...

And no, I've said many times that the Brewers won't do it, I think I said that in this thread, but if all we were going to talk about is what the Brewers will do, what would we talk about?

As far as the whole Laporta thing, let's cross that bridge when it comes. It may not be out of the realm of possibility that Fielder would get traded for pitching. But that is in 2009, I'm not going to tell you my life story, but I have never seen this team win until this year, and this year we should have won more, but ned... I am getting sick of waiting for a couple more years until this guy comes up, or he comes up, because it is getting old. Not to say that we should forget about LaPorta, but this team can and should win now. One of the easiest ways to do that is by making the defense better so the pitching is better, and if the starting pitching is better, the bullpen won't be so tired.

Do I not follow baseball? That is strange, I attended over 40 professional baseball games this past season...

So since the Brewers aren't hating his defense, he won't be moved.

Yes, it is not a question of will it happen, because it won't, most people say that.

In the meantime, we've got a division to win.

My thoughts exactly.

I really don't see why my comments are so outrageous and I think some of the comments back towards me were condescending.

if you are referring that towards me, who ever said that your comments were outrageous? I don't think mine were condescending either, we disagree, just because we have different opinions doesn't mean that we don't respect each other?

I don't think that's what he was suggesting, bhf. At least that's not how it came off to me.

Is the question really can Braun improve?

For me it's that adding Cameron improves the defense in CF and likely would greatly improve the defense at thirdbase.Plus,Braun has the arm strength and speed to not only become an average defensive LF,he could possibly become a damn good corner outfielder.Of course the team would have to test him out to see if he has the instincts to go from infield to LF,but the other skills you'd want are in place.

If Braun took well to playing LF,think about the speed the outfield group would have to take hits away.Braun in left,Cameron in CF,and Hart in RF would be three guys with an ability to cover big chunks of ground. On top of that,it wouldn't be some light hitting group of speedy outfielders. It would be a fast group of outfielders that can mash in the corner spots and Cameron is no Juan Pierre.

I don't expect this to happen, but the thought of it is certainly intriguing to me.The LaPorta situation of course also has to be factored in and is one of the biggest reasons moving Braun to left would make me pause. Then again, who knows if LaPorta ends up being a poor defender in LF.If say he becomes a very great hitting/mediocre at best to poor defensive LF and Braun/Weeks/Fielder don't improve that much in the field, the Brewers sure would be an interesting team to follow. The offense could be a home run mashing machine that terrifies opposing pitchers and defensively terrifies their own pitchers.

bhf, I wasn't suggesting you do not follow baseball. I'm just saying the Brewers aren't real big here so you pretty much have total access to players and coaches at the Sounds games and they enjoy talking to people that care/follow baseball.

Still, this is his 2nd failed test Toby, so shouldn't the suspension be higher by those benchmarks?

Also, every positive test is blamed on a 'tainted supplement'. Maybe after testing positive the first time, you should avoid said supplement before the 2nd?

The first failed test for stimulants just results in counseling, no suspensions, according to the ESPN article. The second failed test gets you 25 games, the third 80 games, and I think a fourth is a full season. You might remember Neifi Perez getting a 25-game suspension in July for stimulants, then getting an 80-game suspension in August after a third positive test.
