Oakland A's leaving Oakland

Wasn't this announced a while ago. I remember hearing about them building a new park "Cisco Field" last spring I think.

Yeah but I guess Oakland wants them to stay in Oakland but the owner said it's out of the question now.

The owner said he wants to stay in Oakland too, but can't get a deal done for the site. I doubt this is the last to be heard about the A's staying in Oakland.

I am glad they are getting a new stadium, though. The coliseum was dated, but ever since they put that addition on when the Raiders moved back it has looked ridiculous. After they A's move out they should just tear down the old 2/3 of the park and make it football-only.

This was initially announced roughly 7 years ago as a move to San Jose. It makes so much sense, as few fans that go to games live near the stadium..they all live in San Jose, Sunnyvale, Santa Clara, etc.

As for the Colleseum, I'll say that it's a better quality stadium than Shea and Wrigley of the ballparks I've been to that still exist.

I'll never understand the Wrigley hate here...obviously the bathrooms are rotten, and the interior is way-outdated, but it's a jewel otherwise.

Seconded. I wish there were more Wrigleys and Fenways.

I think its the people inside Wrigley that make many hate it.

Yeah, that's probably it. Wrigley wouldn't have a bad reputation if it wasn't full of drunken shirtless frat boys who get up and cheer whenever a ball is hit in the air. The difference between Wrigley and Fenway is that Red Sox fans (for the most part) have a reputation of at least being knowledgeable about what's going on around the rest of the league. There are a lot of knowledgeable Cubs fans, but unfortunately they seem to be outnumbered in Wrigley by the alcoholic idiots.
