Recte's BR tidbit of the day- 10/23/07 (Jeff Suppan)

Part of my morning routine is I'll type some random player that popped into my mind into BR.com, and follow resulting player links until I find out something I didn't know before. I think this might be cool to share with everyone.

 

Today's fact is scary- check out Jeff Suppan's #1 most similar pitcher.

Suppan is not similar to Navarro at all. Navarro's best seasons, 17-11, 3.33 and 14-6, 3.28 are far superior to Suppan's.

 

Conversely Suppan's worst seasons are far better than Navarro's worst seasons.

 

Suppan is consistent and predictable into his 30's. Navarro was inconsistent and unpredictable and basically done being an effective pitcher at age 30.

Suppan is not similar to Navarro at all.

The computer is doing is comparing their career stats - and they are very similar there.

You are right, they way they accomplished those stats and their future projection may be different - but career stats are crazy similar.
