I need some new music to listen to; any suggestions?

if you've never listened to The Stooges, you should give them a try.
Oh, no doubt. I mentioned before that I'd been listening to their debut a lot lately. Just amazing. Light years ahead of it's time. Of course you can't go wrong with Fun House or Raw Power either.

most of it might be a little different from the interests of most on here

It's not. The people that post on the music threads anyway.

Yeah, good call on Iggy. Any fans of the Dead Boys? Stiv Bators band before Lords of the New Church. They could rock- Ain't It Fun is such a great song. Night of the Living Dead Boys is a great album. I think Guns n Roses covered Ain't It Fun but I've never heard their version. Not a big fan of GnR but they picked a good one to jam.

I wont mention Ryan Adams and the Cardinals.

Whoops, I just did.

How about the Black Keys. I love them.

Spoon, Iron and Wine.

My first suggestion would be to turn off FM radio. Ive been FM radio free for almost 10 years.

Last weekend i could have sworn i heard the Black Keys being used as the music for some jeans commercial, but i was pretty wasted and maybe i imagined it.

As for the original poster,if you've never listened to The Stooges, you should give them a try.They/Iggy never reached the masses at a level comparable to their influence on metal and punk.

You heard correctly. The jeans were "Lee Jeans" and the song was "Your Touch"

Band of Horses, The National, Spoon, Bloc Party, The Strokes, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Interpol, Hot Hot Heat, and The New Pornographers and Broken Social Scene. If you like the last two you should enjoy Arcade Fire as well...I could go on but most of it might be a little different from the interests of most on here. One of my favs is the inde alt band Clap Your Hands Say Yeah.

It's the hipster dictionary '03 - '07!...and if my hunches are correct, I almost wonder if this is the same Danny K who has been in a few local bands and played on my basketball team back in elementary school.

If you liked Bush (the band), I would recommend checking out Last Falling. I just ran across them today and am liking them quite a bit, but I'm not sure if they are in stores yet, or just Itunes. Ex member of Limp Bizkit, Wes Boreland started a new band Black Light Burns which is more rock, but is pretty good. I would also give a thumbs up to Silversun Pickups as someone already recommended here, but I prefer their live stuff more.

A.A. Bondy's "American Hearts" is turning into a solid top 5 album for me. It's an album from Scott Bondy, the leader of the sadly forgotten Verbena. Bondy has a lot of Dylan in him, as well as a good bit of southern malice. This album is sneaking up my charts so quick I wouldn't rule it out for best album of the year in a very strong year for music. The title track may well be the song of the year. I truly love this.
