Another homerun for Braun. I believe that's now 13 extra base hits for him already. Also nice to see him involved in a couple double plays with no errors. And Manny Parra is looking pretty good so far. I'm guessing we'll see him Nashville real soon.

Looks like Braun had a very nice game today with the homer and was involved in I believe 6 defensive plays and had 4 put outs including starting a DP. When Braun gets up here, this lineup is going to give pitchers nightmares.

He's rehabbing from the injury he had last season (broken ankle?), I think in extended spring training right now. I don't think there's been a set date for when he's supposed to be back, but when he does I'd suppose he's going to be in Brevard.

It's amazing how well Nashville is doing. Rottino and Braun are the only two hitting right now (Nelson was heating up too, but he hasn't played in a few days). But the pitching and defense have been outstanding.

Really, the defense has been pretty good at every level. Gamel and Brewer are about the only two who are commiting regular errors.

Final: Nashville 2, Iowa (Cubs) 1

pulled it off in the tenth

Nashville Box Score:

Ryan Braun hitting .295 with 6 hr's and a 9/7 bb/k rate...i don't think he can get any better with the stick guys... since his defense has been alright, i can't imagine the Brewers keeping him down very far into May, especially since they appear to be contenders this year.

Vinny Rottino with a couple of hits---off to a very good start as well, lookign forward to having him as a 1b/3b/rf/lf/dh for the next few years..

Final: Huntsville 2, Montgomery (Drays) 1

Another squeeker in extra innings

Huntsville Box Score:

Much like Ryan Braun, Lou Palmisano has walked more than he's k'd, with a 11/7 bb/k rate...If the captain has finally learned to take awalk, he could regain a lot of his lost luster...Big Night for Brendan Katin as well, who hit for good power in Brevard County last year---something not even Ryan Braun can claim.

Clean Sweep for the Brewers Organization today...

Final: West Virginia 8, Hickory (Pirates) 5

West Virginia Box Score:

Brent Brewer's name is all over this box score...good to see last year's second round pick heating up...Fantastic night for kenny holmberg as well, who is doing his best not to get lost in the shuffle after a dissapointing campaign in 2006.

I'd be okay with a raw toolsy guy like Brewer taking a year or two just to learn how to hit. If he can move that schedule up a bit, he can become a top prospect REAL quick.

Quite honestly guys like him are really hard to watch early on for me, because every 0-4 or 0-5 box score (and they come often with these types of players) makes me nervous that our latest "5-tool prospect" is all flash and no substance.

But I pull hard for them, because the once in a blue moon they turn out, they tend to be spectacular.

Brent Brewer has already lapped Josh Murray...so i don't think we have to worry about the total collapse...while Brent's got some proving to do before he's a top prospect, he's a lot less raw than some players (see Mercedes, Roque)

speaking of Roque merceds, I don't know when it will come to an ened...clearly, he's got problems...i wonder whent he brewers will send him back to EST...but i doubt they just let him go for a couple more years...
