Top 10 expenses that add up...

jaybird2001wi

Bankrate.com just did a little article on the Top 10 little expenses that add up. I kind of figured that the top 3 would be coffee, cigarettes and beer.

I spend about 20 bucks on cigarettes alone and I usually buy canned coffee where I make the coffee myself to save money... but even that adds up. I usually buy the generic brand canned coffee for about $5 which is good for about 10 pots of coffee.

Now I am finding myself skimping on beer and buying Old Milwaukee to offset some costs that I incure at the bar at night.

All of these purchases make me think about what I spent my money on. I could have had an additional $2,000 in my wallet if I didn't waste it all on some of the mentioned items.

who gets their car detailed every two months?

manicures every week?

if you are doing both of those, i am pretty sure you aren't worried about "little costs"

i agree 100% with the lunch thing though. i have worked with many people who went out for lunch all the time. i always thought about how much that would cost...crazy.

thank goodness i dont smoke anymore and rarely drink.

I'm too nice and I ALWAYS drive the hookers home, plus my coke dealer charges extra for home delivery. It adds up!

Driving the hookers home is probably cheaper than cab fare.

Wow. Of those ten expenses, the only one I routinely absorb is lunch "out" - though I don't spend $9.00 a day on it.

That and (I guess) my beloved Vitamin Water - though I buy it at Woodman's, where it's least expensive. Though even the convenience store price is comparable to coffee, and definitely cheaper than alcohol.

We wash our car periodically, but we've never had a car detailed, nor would we likely do so every other month.

I don't even want to know what is happening inside a car that needs to be detailed every 2 weeks. I understand a buck in quarters to vacuum, and maybe 3 bucks a year on armor all/cleaners. I think I need to open my own detailing shop, complete with restaurant and cigarettes. Oh, and in keeping with the thread direction, the hookers and blow will be in the back room.

My biggest waste of cash is probably the gas station fountain soda. However, I don't think a dollar a workday is killing my finances.

The only one of the ten expenses that I have are the vending machine snack. I bring a lunch and some snackes from home, but I still get the munchies in the afternoon. I know the cost adds up and it's bad for you, but I gotta have my Peanut M&Ms.

Yeah -- I hear you -- I have gone with the theory that it is better to buy the small .75 cent bags whenever you are jonesing for M&Ms rather than buying a 2lb bag -- even though

the 2lb bag is more fiscally sensible.

Coffee- I've never tried coffee.

Cigs- I've never smoked cigs.

Alcohol- I go out maybe once a month, so no biggie. I probably spend about $30/month for home consumption.

Convenience store water- Never. I buy the 28-pack of Ice Mountain for $3.99 at the grocery store and keep it in the fridge. That's around 14 cents/bottle.

Manicures- Never. I just bite my nails.

Car Washes- Never. I wait for rain.

Weekday Lunch- Probably Subway twice a week, so about $15.

Vending Machines- If that counts soda at work, I probably spend about $10/week.

Interest charges- Yeah, I pay some of that. Not too much though.

Unused gym member- Gotta join one to not use it, right?

Geez, I should be rolling in money based on this article. I don't really spend much on any of the things listed.

The 'service' I use has a 'buy 10 get one free' program... kinda like a Subway Club Card.
