Trans Siberian Orchestra

I just booked 4 tickets to the show at the Bradley Center on 12/16. going with my wife her mom, and one of her moms friends.

Anyone ever been to one of these? Is it really as awesome as everyone always says it is? More importantly will I regret going to this instead of sitting home on my butt watching the Packers?

People say it's awesome? I saw they were coming to Minneapolis on 12/15 (iirc). The only thing I know about them is that they were in a Miller commercial a couple years ago.

I went to their Christmas concert in Madison a couple of years ago, and it was absolutely freakin' awesome. I loved every second of it. I doubt you'll regret any minute of being there. I want to go to their spring concert very badly.

If you could sit in the first row, do it. At the one I was at (I don't know if this is a common thing or not) one of the band members just up and gave a guitar to a kid. I wish I would have been that kid.

My brother lives in Siberia. He is married to a Siberian woman. They sound nothing like that. Moreover, I bet none of those guys has killed a sheep in his living room.

That said, I do enjoy the Trans Siberian folks.

I've been with them since 1995 and saw them all the way back to their very first tour in like 1999 when they were playing small clubs and doing their very best to put on an actual theatric/dramatic show. It's so great that by now they're playing arenas and performing for thousands every night. I think Paul O'Neill is one of the greatest songwriters of our time, and the fact that mostly all his works get crafted into wondrous and majestic stories/rock operas/concept albums is a delicious bonus. If you don't have the albums Christmas Eve & Other Stories and The Christmas Attic, go buy them and start spinning them, especially after Thanksgiving. They're probably two of the top 25 cds in my collection of 800.

Their shows are great, but be prepared for some sacharine-sweet and Broadway-style dramatics. Rock/metal music, well-written songs, great stories to tell, symphonic bombasts, great singing from several vocalists, slow songs, fast songs, light songs, heavy songs, exciting light show, and Christmas magic everywhere. It rules.

Best - concert - ever! I will be going to them every year that they come to Wisconsin. My wife and I were in the floor seats a couple of years ago and the pyrotechnics nearly burnt our eyebrows off. AWESOME!

we were in the rafters of the BC last year and you could feel the heat from the pyro's way up there.

the first half of their show was a little "odd" last year (not what we were expecting), but the second half was really good.

I went to a show in Green Bay a few years ago, and I'll agree with everyone else..Its so awesome. It too gave me goosebumps all over when they played their main song Christmas Eve Sarajevo. I have wanted to go back ever since I went to the show. One thing, Its very loud. I don't know if it was because I saw it in a small venue like the Resch Center but it was loud. If you don't mind that, you'll love the show.

The first half of their show is their traditional "Christmas Opera," and the second half is a mixture of their other stuff (which I call their "showing off" half of the show). These folks are incredibly talented musicians.

We saw them in Phoenix last Thanksgiving, and liked them so much we saw them again in Milwaukee, which was just after Christmas. Amazing stuff.

We're going to see them in Madison this year, since we'll be gone when they are in Milwaukee.

If you are even curious about this stuff....it's a must-see. They rock the place hard....their concept is ingenious.

Just to add to what others have been saying, TSO is awesome. My wife and I will be going again on 11/18 out here in Vegas and this will make our 5th consecutive year. The show is just great. The story during the first half of the show just puts you in the Christmas spirit and like others have mentioned the music is unbelievably good. The girl on the violin is out of this world. I would recommend this show to everyone.
