Who's your postseason team? (Merged: Ideal Playoff Matchups/Results)

jlau20

The crock is the idea that you know why I wasn't around much.

Fair enough, I guess. But it certainly looks like there is a legit reason for why my initial view would appear to be the case. If it's not, I legitimately do apologize, and congrats on getting your broker's license.

That said, if you think I went to some great length to find out that post history, you really should explore the new super-easy Yuku search functionality that is far superior to ezboard's.

Now, back to the topic at hand.

Thanks Peavey, I appreciate it.

It would be kind of tough to see the DBacks win another title since they weren't even in existence the last time the Brewers had a winning record and already have 1 WS title. Combine that with the fact that they were supposed to be just a little behind us coming into the year in terms of building and zoomed right past us. The difference I think is that their manager knows how to manage a bullpen.

Definately Cleveland in the AL. Then the Angels if Cleveland bows out. Can't root for the Yankees or Red Sox.

In the NL, it'll be the one or two teams from the West.

I am very scared of a Yanks-Sox ALCS paired with a Mets-Cubs NLCS. I'd root for the umpires.

Oh, see, now, I wouldn't even have the TV or radio on for anything of that nature.

It seems like most years I know some fans of at least a few of each postseason's teams, so I can think to myself, "well, coworker X would be happy if This Team won..."

However, at the moment it does not feel satisfying to once again live vicariously through others in the postseason. I am considering ignoring it all, save for maybe the discussion around here.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

I'm not going to lie, I'd rather not see the Yankees win either, but I love Red Sox-Yankees games, they're almost always good no matter how you feel about the teams.

My two favorite series of all time are the 2003 and 2004 ALCS's.

First and foremost I want to avoid another Red Sox/Yankees ALCS. It's great that both teams have such patient hitters and good pitchers, but I'll pass on a 7-game series filled with those 4 1/2 hour games that polluted ESPN all year. Give me Cleveland/Los Angeles or give me death.

I'll be pulling for the Tribe as well, since it'd be pretty fun to see another team end a long World Series drought before the Cubs. What's Cleveland's dry spell up to? 50-some years? Not quite Red Sox/White Sox territory, but that's still a long time. It's not like the citizens of Cleveland have a football team to fall back on, either, and their NBA team just got spanked in the Finals. In the NL, I could pull for Arizona or San Diego. If Philadelphia finds a way to get in, I'd probably root for them, since their offense is a lot of fun to watch.

No way man, give me the Yanks/Sox marathons any day of the week. Every pitch is so freekin' exciting. It's absolutely must see television.

Yeah, watching Andy Pettitte and Diasuke Matsuzaka both exit after 4 IP and a combined 230 pitches is riveting television. http://static.yuku.com//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/wink.gif

It's just not my cup of tea. ESPN played the rivalry out so much that it's absolutely unbearable to me right now. If the AL came down to the Red Sox and Yankees again it would be a waste of a season IMO.

I was going to root for the Padres, but I was at the Packer game today, and the Charger fans were extremely obnoxious, so I'm hoping they lose. I'd like to see the Mets and the Indians. Cleveland deserves a championship, and the Mets are the best alternative to ARZ, SD, and CHC. However, if the Phils win the WC, I hope they make it all the way. I'm a big Jimmy Rollins fan.

I'm going for AZ or SD in the NL and CLE in the AL.

I went to Petco in May and thought it was a beautiful park in a great part of a beautiful city. Everyone was cordial and I spoke to several very knowledgeable Padres fans on the train ride home. That and the fact that they don't have anyone I despise on the team will cause me to pull for them.

If you got the umps from today, I reckon they'd win....

As to the question - I don't care who wins as long as it isn't the Cubs, Mets, Yankees, Sox or Cubs.

The level of classlessness and vitriol depicted by many Cubs fans during this run has removed whatever tiny verstige of sympathy there might be towards breaking curses for the unloveable losers...

I will pull for San Diego and Cleveland.

Anything but Mets/Cubs and Yanks/Sox in the LCS. Please.

Pretty please.

I will pretty much be rooting for any team that plays the Cubs. I suppose I could root for Arizona, but I don't really have too many ties to the other teams, so I probably will just watch and take a favorite as I go along.

So long as the Mets/Cubs/Red Sox/Yankees don't win it,i don't care at all.I'll only then be cheering for the teams i bet on because it gives m a reason to watch. The last few years,i've really had a hard time getting interested in the baseball playoffs unless i had money on a team or if i was hoping someone beat the Red Sox.

Ok, I'm jumping into the snake pit with Ennder. Gotta say that I'm rooting for the Cubs (although, foolishly I have not given up on the Brewers yet). Sorry.

My reasons? My main reason, as I stated on this board before, is that my Dad is 75 and a life long Cubs fan. He grew up in Central WI and it was the only team he could pick up on the radio. Who knows how much longer he will have to see the Cubs win it. Also, when I first started following the Brewers in the late 70's the Cubs were not their rival at all. It was the Yankees, Red Sox, and Orioles. Then they switched divisions and it was the White Sox. Cable TV came along and you could watch the Cubs every day. Which I and a lot of my friends would do. We were all rooting for them in 1984 (when they choked against SD in the playoffs). Again, there was no hatred towards them like now. Also, like Ennder, I have never had a run in with a Cubs fan. Although, I do know that they can be obnoxious, to say the least, when they come to Milwaukee.

Like I said, I have followed the Brewers since the late 70's. I was at all the home post season games in 1982. I was there when Robin got his 3000th hit and Molly's steak ended. I have been a season ticket holder since 1993 (that's a lot of losing seasons). I was at the first game at Miller Park. I have been to Brewer's spring training the last 5 years. So, I think my allegiance to the Brewers is as strong as anyone's. Rooting for a rival in the playoffs, does not make you any less of a fan. However, it's not like I'm going to be heart broken if the Cubs lose in the post season. The Brewers are the only team that could ever break my heart...and they have done that many time in the 30 years that I have followed them.
