Who's your postseason team? (Merged: Ideal Playoff Matchups/Results)

jlau20

With the Brewers pretty much falling out of contention today, who are you jumping on board with this postseason?

I'm guessing this will be the popular pick, but I'm going with the Tribe. Outside of the Yankees, I'm a partial fan of every AL team that looks to be headed to the postseason. If I have to pick an NL team to root for, going with the D'Backs. Of course nothing much is completely sewn up yet in the NL, but if they make it and the Crew doesn't, I'd love to see a Tribe-D'Backs World Series.

I know you admitted you'd take heat Ennder, but I don't know how anyone could cheer for the Cubs. They went Yankees and spent 300 million this offseason. The last thing baseball needs is another team buying titles. This is the exact scenario I warned of before the season started. And boy did I take heat for it. From one moderator here at BFAN.net in particular. The Cubs were the one team I feared before the season. It seems so long ago, but a good majority here wrote them off and said they'd find some way to screw it up somehow. Yeah, maybe if they only would have spent 150 million in the offseason. When you spend that kind of dough, you're going to get enough right to make a difference. My nightmare scenario came true.

And convienently returned to remind the board of when the Cubs regained first place after being oddly absent for the first 5 months of the season when the Brewers were in first place, and then disappearing when the Brewers jumped back and forth back into first place a couple of times.

Amazingly odd how that happened to happen without fail......

Stay on topic, thanks.

I'll take a lot of heat for this but I'll be cheering on the Cubs in the NL.

You, my friend, are not a true Brewers fan.

That's like a Michigan fan saying they'll be rooting for Ohio State (well, ok, the rivalry isn't that big but you get the point).

Go hang out with your buddies at NSBB, Judas http://static.yuku.com//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/grin.gif

I'm normally all for NL Central pride, but as a long-time Chicago resident I can't, in good conscience, root for the Cubs in any situation other than a regular season game that doesn't affect the Brewers.

I'd like to see the Mets vs. the Tribe...fat chance, though.

I've been here all year long passionately pulling for the Brewers as hard as anybody. When we started to lose grip of our early lead, I brought up my fear of this scenario and again was scoffed at by you. I wasn't predicting it, just warning of it. And guess what I was right. You were wrong. And we both are unhappy about it. Deal with it. But the crap you posted towards me as a moderator of this board is pretty distasteful.

Buying a championship doesn't really bother me though, its no different than say Duke basketball having an advantage in recruiting or Ohio State football. I like a number of Cub's players and I tend to support the division come playoff time as they are the teams I'm most familiar with. I've posted over at NSBB all season and they seemed to be a good enough group in general so I'm not even down on the fanbase. I went to two of the Brewer vs Cubs games this season and again had no issues with the fans.

Now I hate the Bears and the White Sox, the Cubs just don't bother me much.

I've never understood why fair is considered so good, its sure made the NFL less fun to watch as it just created a large number of mediocre boring to watch teams.

What kind of jerk likes Duke basketball or Ohio State football?!? http://static.yuku.com//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/eek.gif

Just switch over to the dark side now. http://static.yuku.com//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/ohwell.gif

Unfortunately, that's a blatant lie. You were noticeably absent from this board between May and August.

What an absolute crock. First of all, if I was absent at all during those times it was because it was studying for my broker's license which I obtained the first week of August. Second of all, I mentioned the Cubs scenrio three times. I posted on this board about 100 times that amount throughout the season about all things Brewers. I really wish we could pull up that thread from before the season.

Oh I hate Duke with a passion, but even that makes the sport more fun. I don't really care about Ohio State other than the Badgers beating them. I wish Baseball would do a little bit more to help the bottom feeders and a little bit more to cut down on the edge the top 4 or 5 teams have but overall the competitive balance in baseball is pretty decent. Every year there are new faces in the playoffs and in the world series and I feel that the majority of teams have a shot.

What an absolute crock.

Between the end of April and the end of July, you had a grand total of 7 posts on this board, and 6 of those were in ONE game thread.

Zero posts in May, much of June, and July when the Brewers were flying their highest.

Care to revise your opinion on that "crock" now that the actual facts show your blatant lie?

I never said I wasn't here. I was very busy during the exact period you just listed. First of all why continue to hijack this thread. You're proving nothing. I didn't do much of anything during that time period except work and study. I already stated such. The crock is the idea that you know why I wasn't around much. The point is I brought up the Cubs scenario three times. Each time you stalked me, apparently to a somewhat sick degree as witnessed here today. But those 3 mentions pale in comparison to the hundreds of Brewer discussions I've been in that had nothing to do with the Cubs.

I agree (maybe even on your feelings about the Cubs), I'm just pulling your leg...no way I can root for the Cubs, though. That 2003 NLCS was almost as satisfying for me as the Brewers 1st half of 2007 was.

As soon as the Brewers are eliminated, I'm cheering for the Padres and Diamondbacks. In fact, I'll go so far as to say that once the Crew is eliminated, I'll cheer for the Pdres in the regular season. At this point, being immersed in bitterness, it's more "who am I cheering against?" than "who am I cheering for?"

If possible, I only want one of the Phils or Mets in the playoffs. The teams in the NL West have earned two playoff spots, simply by virtue of having to play each other all season. So if the Brewers have to lose to make that happen, it won't bother me at all provided the Cubs have already clinched.

I'd rather see a foreign kingship imposed on the United States than see the Cubs win a single playoff game. Unless , of course, I could be guaranteed an kick-the-Cubs-in-the-nuts incident which tops the Bartman incident by a factor of 10.

In the AL, it's pretty simple. Tribe and Angels all the way. As long as one of them makes it to the WS from the AL, I won't be bile-filled and angry. In the dark side division, I like the Yankees much more than the Red Sox, so I'll go with them third.
