2008 Schedule Released

I avoid Cubs games most of the time too...but I'll gladly go to that last series in September, unless we've run away with the division, in which case I'll watch at home with my playoff tickets at my side.

Actually the only way Imight be able to tolerate Cubs fans is if we have already run away with the division. Then no matter what they have to say all I will think is "so how is 2nd place treating you?"

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.

I was looking forward to attending the last games of the year next year. Now I will avoid them at all costs.

It's this attitude that helps create "Wrigley North." I wish Brewer fans would defend their stadium.

And seconded to being happy about a weekender in LA...I'll take Los Angeles over San Diego for a road trip.

Hear, hear!

It's great that the Brewers will be coming through Portland...wait, we don't have an MLB team?.....http://static.yuku.com//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/frown.gif Well.....maybe I'll see Inman in AAA next year! (yeah, that's almost as exciting...)

No, actually it's cash. You have ticket brokers and scalpers that hoard these tickets and then sell them to our friends to the south. Plus, you have the average ticket holder that given the choice of going to the game or getting 3 to 4 times what they paid for the ticket, will choose the latter. Sad, but true.

I just hope they don't decide to make it Fan Appreciation night on that last Saturday.

I think the Brewers should be allowed to play more games at home, say 100 or so. :D Other than that, I have no real gripes about the schedule. It's tough to decide which series are easy and which are hard before we even get to see each team's offseason moves, too. For all we know, the Giants could sign A-Rod and that home opener becomes a lot tougher.

That'd be nice, but not likely, as the only other home Saturday in September is September 6, and I can't think of a year when the fan appreciation game was not the last home Saturday. It would suck if the fabulous prizes went to cubs fans; not to mention the jerseys that Sunday if the Brewers repeat the "shirt off our back" promotion. Worse yet would be if the Brewers tried a two-pronged approach, where you could also win a cubs jersey. (Brewers employees, if you're reading this, don't do it! The point is not to make the cubs fans feel at home!)

On a brighter note (for me at least), the Brewers have also set their ticket prices for next season:

Even if we let the Brewers apply our '07 postseason payment to a 2008 pack, we'll still get money back.

uugghhh....that would be horrible. I think they really need to consider doing it on Sept 6th next year. You can't have Fan Appreciation night on a night where there's a chance that 50% of the fans might be Cubs fans. Of course, I'm sure they will. I remember when they had a Brewer cap night (I think that's what it was?) on the same night they were playing the Cubs.

I hope this means that they bring back the exhibition games at miller park, I used to love going to those, nice and cheap.

I remember when the White Sox came up to Miller Park for that exhibition series. We were in the left field bleachers, and about 4 really drunk (ok more drunk then us) Chicago guys were behind us. Didn't have a clue on baseball, but kept saying how Miller Park wasn't all that great, and how Comminsky is so much better.. I just wanted to strangle them.

Looking at the schedule, it's a little dissapointing to see that the first week of games are all day games. I'll be itching to watch some meaningful Brewer Baseball at that point, but there will be no prime time games until the 7th game of the season. Although, I always take off the first game of the season (home or away). I consider it a religious holiday, and we always go to the second game of the season.

We play five games in Chicago through May 1....did anyone at MLB notice the weather this past spring?

I don't get the Cubs coming here two times again, that seems wrong, but there are some things I like about the schedule. One is the nice homestand right before the All-Star break, the other is the number of home games in September.

I think he's referring to the number of games that'll be on the Brewers' schedule once the face the Cubs in a tiebreaker playoff.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

163 is every team's magic number prior to Opening Day.

That surprised me, too, splitter. After all the weather problems at the start of the 2007 season, you'd think they'd want to utilize the more 'weather-resistant' stadiums as much as possible early in the year. Unless they're saving MP for those more important east coast games. Of course, if the weather in Chicago is dreadful and MP is available, I'm sure the Brewers could find a way to host.

I think in April this year we took 2 of 3 from the Cubs and didn't have much luck at Wrigley after that. So really, if history repeats itself, I find this arrangement totally copacetic.

How can 163 be a magic number? If you go undefeated, you beat all NL teams at least once. 162 is correct.

As for the schedule, the Brewers and other warm weather/retractable roof teams have no interest in having a 2 week homestand in early April. Those lackluster games are split equally, as they should be.
