An Open Letter from Mark Attanasio

SeriesFinale

I suppose Yost to Attanasio is like a day trader to the big boss.

I suppose -- firing or not firing Yost is probably something that is best left to Melvin anyway.

I am betting that MA and DM had a conversation where they discussed Yost and his shortcomings, and DM probably pitched a good argument to keep Yost, and MA bought it. The fallout will probably be if Yost carps himself next year, both DM and Yost will probably be shown the door, much like in Houston this last season.

AN OPEN LETTER FROM TRIBUNE CORP:

You WILL mythologize this team, though it goes three-and-out in the playoffs and fails to qualify in 2008, having not won a World Series in 100 FREAKING YEARS.

You WILL accept the peevish explanations and syllogisms of hotheaded alcoholic Lou Piniella for mismanaging the team down the stretch.

You WILL make apologies for the ass-clownish antics of Ted Lilly and Carlos Zambrano.

You WILL NOT boo the swan-diving sluggers like A-Ram and D-Lee, who have been embarrassed by the likes of Doug Davis and Juan Cruz.

You WILL pay $7 for Bud Light from a can served by a carnie in a place that smells like a Calcutta landfill and then compare that to receiving communion from the pope in the Vatican.

You WILL continue to commodify failure and throw a chunk of your substantial disposable income toward buying Cubs cozies and wind chimes.

You WILL make certain to annoy every non-Cubs fan within reach with your impenetrable arrogance about the Cubs, even though they are about to get their asses handed to them in ignominy.

If you don't like it sue us or kiss our $24-a-share asses. We're incorporated in the Antillles.

-SIGNED, YOUR CORPORATE OVERLORDS

BBTS,

Way to jinx it....now they'll win three in a row!

"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

Now, it turned out that there was a ripple effect caused by a massive hole in our starting rotation, which obliterated our bullpen, which caused the Brewers to skid into 2nd place and ultimately stay there. Some here argue that it was Ned's fault. Others say the defense caused the starting rotation to falter, which led to the bullpen collapse. And so on and so forth.

Truth is, the Brewers really were 'this close' to making the playoffs. It was exciting, frustrating and ultimately heartbreaking.

But I'll take a season like this any time over a repeat of last year, which was just plain frustrating and heartbreaking.

Post of the year! No more enlightening to be added about 2007. We should all go home now and start posting again in the Spring.

Totally agree with joe pepsi, who has been one of the best posters on this site for the last five years. And as brewcrewin2004 stated, Mark A has been nothing but class since he has purchased the club.
Mom? Is that you? http://static.yuku.com//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/smile.gif Thank you molitor fan for the kind words. After this last slap on the wrist I figured I'd be done with it once and for all. Now, maybe I'll stick around for awhile. http://static.yuku.com//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/pimp.gif

Dunn would have been an ideal fit offensively at least given his on base skills.Bat him second and a Dunn/Braun/Fielder/Hart grouping would have silly amounts of power potential. It would be adding yet another bad defender, but his offense would more than offset his poor defense.

I think the Matt Wise for Dunn rumor missed prospects, but that may have been the big league part of it, or most of it.

I thought we discovered that rumor was a complete fabrication of some blogger - total speculation that ended up getting taken as truth. So I guess I consider any real Brewers-Reds talks to have went totally under the radar.

The Adam Dunn blowup occurred when WSSP decided to report it was a done deal. I think the blogger's words were on 'kinda' safe ground.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

Right. Although they didn't use very careful wording, I believe the Cincy sources left it in the rumor stage. WSSP 'elevated' the rumor to being a done deal.
