More Song Help

TheCrew07

The crew at Brewerfan has never let me down when it comes to this. I'm stumped again on music, but this time I don't have a specific song I'm looking for, more an idea. Last year I ended the highlight film with "Green Day - Good Riddence (The Time of Your Life)", I was driving in the car and heard the song the day after I had actually completed the highlight film for the football team... the song was so perfect I recut the end of the film to get it in there. I like the idea of sending the kids, especially the seniors, away with that same message, but I'm drawing blanks trying to come up with something, and I hate using the same song in a 4 year window. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Here's a few that might be appropriate

John Lennon - Imagine

"You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one"

Queen - Don't Stop Me Now

"I'm having such a good time, I'm having a ball"

Coldplay - Fix You

"But if you never try, you'll never know/Just what you're worth"

Natasha Bedingfield - Unwritten

"Today is where your book begins/The rest is still unwritten"

U2 - One

"We're one, but we're not the same/We get to carry each other

Oasis - The Masterplan

"I'm not saying right is wrong/it's up to us to make the best of all the things that come our way"

That'll do for now, I think...

Good Riddance is about breaking up with a girl.
I think it's common for people to attach there own meanings to songs (regardless of what the songwriters intentions were). That's the beauty of music and art.

Your point being?

How about "In My Life" by The Beatles.

There are places i'll remember

All my life though some have changed

Some forever not for better

Some have gone and some remain

All these places have their moments

With lovers and friends i still can recall

Some are dead and some are living

In my life i've loved them all

But of all these friends and lovers

There is no one compares with you

And these memories lose their meaning

When i think of love as something new

Though i know i'll never lose affection

For people and things that went before

I know i'll often stop and think about them

In my life i love you more

Though i know i'll never lose affection

For people and things that went before

I know i'll often stop and think about them

In my life i love you more

In my life i love you more

Don't think that would be the best choice.

If highlight film music could only be about sports... well there would hardly be a song available that wasn't classical or a sountrack. Good rock music (rock being very general in this case) is rarely about anything than women, drugs, sex, or violence... the thing is what the song means to you as others pointed out.

It's something unpredictable

but in the end it's right

I hope you had the time of your life.

Poweful words, that had many people in the room misty... the ovation from the room when the senior tribute was done playing was quite moving.

Songs usually mark moments in time for me, and I acheived that for the senior kids, Green Day will always be linked to football for those 20+ kids, that's what I'm looking to do.

Thanks all for your suggestions, some great ideas in the thread, I knew you'd all come through for me.

I'll second "Forever Young." I've seen it work very well in videos like this before.

Or, depending on the group of kids, maybe "Praise You" by Fat Boy Slim.

We've come a long, long way together

Through the hard times and the good

I have to celebrate you, baby

I have to praise you like I should.
