Thank you Geoff Jenkins!

TooLiveBrew

And just like that...all my frustrations with him disappeared, and the only thing I could feel was sorrow. This man was my favorite player in the game for a long, long time, and it's hard to think of the Brewers without seeing #5 in the outfield. I know there are legitimate critiques of his approach at the plate, and that he whiffed far more often than we'd have liked, but I am sincerely going to miss Jenkins if he is indeed not back after this season.

He was here through all the painful losing, and was a class act the whole way. A big tip of the hat to Ned Yost, who was classy enough to take advantage of the situation and give Geoff the send-off he deserves. Some may not share my sentiments, but Geoff Jenkins is a Brewer that I'll never forget.

Agreed. He's always been one of my favorites and this afternoons send off brought a tear to my eye. I'm sure no other current Brewer can share the same emotions that I have as a fan for the past 10 years as Geoff Jenkins. He won't be able to pee his pants this year, but there is still a glimmer of hope for next.

Jenkins has always been one of my favorite Brewers. I will definitely be sad to see him go. I was glad to see him get that last standing O.

I'll miss Geoff as well. Sure, his swing left something to be desired, but what are you going to do.

It's unfortunate that Geoff's best years coincided with terrible teams around him, but it feels like somewhat of a changing of the guard. For the past 10 years, it was Geoff Jenkins and losing teams, now it's changed over to a winning team with five faces in Fielder, Braun, Hart, Weeks and Hardy that hopefully will be here and be healthy and be winners for the next 10.

As I cheered and watched him leave the field, it dawned on me. I never once thought to myself that he dogged it. Not once.

Glad to see that he got the sendoff he deserved. I'm glad I could be part of it.

With that being said, let's not pick up the option and turn around and sign him.

Thanks Geoff!

Mine too. As Jenkins was walking off the field, I thought back 10 years ago when I stayed up until well after midnight (I was 12 at the time) listening to Jenkins's first game on the radio. He's been a favorite of mine ever since. I got the chance to speak with him once and I told him that story, he laughed a little bit and smiled. He was just the nicest guy and a great person to watch for the last decade. He helped get me through some crappy seasons, and if he doesn't come back, I'm going to miss him. I'd love to see him back again, but if not, best of luck Geoff!

I can't seem to remember any instance either than I sat there and thought Geoff gave up on a ball, etc. Most everyone has atleast a few times where they don't completely hustle it out and it costs them an out, but other than that, I can't remember any times either.

I'm going to miss him the most for is ditching his huge dip on his way to first after a big home run. Classic.

I became a Brewers fan only 2+ years ago, and Jenkins was my favorite from the beginning. I just loved his attitude as a ball player. I agree we shouldn't pick up his option, but I'll still tear up if/when we don't. I only wish I could have seen him in his prime. I'll miss you Geoff!!

packfan79, and anyone else who feels the need to criticize Jenkins in this thread:

There are several threads on this forum to voice your displeasure with Jenkins (or even Yost), this is obviously one for fans to show how much he meant to them.

Don't worry, I think he meant that was Yost's first good move all season in that he pulled Jenkins so he could get his due. I wasn't sure how to read it at first either, but I think he meant it in a positive way towards Jenks.

I was thinking the same thing when I started reading this thread. Never seemed like an effort issue with him. Always seemed to play hard, which I appreciated.

That was the first game I've ever been at that actually brought a tear to my eye. He's been loyal to the franchise for over a decade, and its really sad that he'll be gone just as we will be making our run (hopefully). He's been a class act, and for years was the only Brewer I truly enjoyed watching. Thanks for the memories Geoff, and I'm sorry you had to spend your years toiling alongside the likes of Alex Sanchez and Jeffrey Hammonds. Here's hoping you catch on with a contender and get to experience the playoffs with somebody.

Unless he signs with the Twins, Cubs (heck, anyone in our division), or BoSux, I have a strong suspicion that team will become one of my favorites...http://static.yuku.com//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/smile.gif

I, for one, am not going to be suprised if Jenkins is back with Milwaukee next year. I highly doubt another team out there is going to offer Jenkins a starting job, considering he is obviously in a platoon portion of his career. If the Brewers do indeed try to trade TGJ this winter, the OF depth for this team isn't exactly going to be top-notch. If Jenks is willing to return to Milwaukee in a part-time role for reduced money, Id be all for it. The question is if Jenks would be for it.
