Braun on Facebook?

DannoMac21
I would love to hear your evidence for this.

From the JS Online:

For those who thought it was odd for Ryan Braun and Corey Hart to attempt a double steal Saturday night, with one out and Geoff Jenkins at the plate and the Brewers clinging to a 4-3 lead, count Yost among your ranks. Braun was thrown out easily after mistakenly thinking he had the "green light" to go. "Some players have the green light unless I take it off," Yost said. " 'Braunie' has the green light at first but I take it off all the time because I don't want him running in front of Prince (Fielder). But you don't have the green at second."
From almost every account by people who saw the play, Hart left at exactly the same time as Braun. This indicates to me that it was most likely an ill-advised double steal that our manager didn't feel like taking the blame for, so he had Braun take the fall. Braun's an easy target. He's a rookie, and his monster bat means fans are going to be extremely forgiving of mistakes. Blaming the rookie for messing up signs is like blaming the dog for farting. They're a likely suspect and they're not going to defend themselves. Do you really think Braun would turn on his manager and dispute Ned's story?

Anyway, it's either that, or both Hart and Braun screwed up the signals. I know what I think happened, but obviously you're free to draw your own conclusions.

Prince, Rickie, JJ, Stetter, Gwynn Jr., and Matt Wise are also on facebook and I have sent friend requests to all and they have accepted. Stetter even asked who I was and I told him I was a big fan of the Crew and he responded with an okay and a thank you. Most of them look legit but I guess it doesn't matter if they are fake.

It's not unusual for younger athletes to have Facebook accounts. I've seen that Kirk Heinrich of the Chicago Bulls has one from his Kansas days. I do think it's weird that Braun would only have 8 U alumns as friends...usually athletes at colleges get added by practically everyone on campus. I go to a pretty small school and even the foreign basketball players have about 1,000 friends. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

Since Facebook doesn't let you snoop at his profile unless you're his friend, it'd be hard to tell if it's legit or if it's just a very-well-done fake until you were actually added as a friend. At least the profile pic isn't something saved from JSOnline.

The photo of Braun looks like he is sitting at a table signing baseballs. Anyone who bought one of those baseballs from that private signing probably has that picture too. That picture can easily be obtained. Of course I'm looking at a tiny picture as most of you are, but it looks like there are a few boxes of baseballs that he is signing. Plus with only 8 friends from the U I would bet any amount of money that that isn't him.

I really think that may be Braun...how can some random person have access to a picture of him sitting on a couch? And yes, of course, I friend requested him.

He is sitting on a couch signing baseballs. Not hard to find that, just buy an autographed baseball from a dealer and you usually get a photo of him signing as proof.

I'm going to post this on my facebook account and see how many people suddenly want to be my friend.

"Well, I invited Prince Fielder over to the house to play XBox yesterday. He showed up which was cool, but he brought friends. I wasn't planning on that. I had to whip up some extra spinach dip, but other than that - no big deal. Anyway, here's a few pic's. I would have taken more, but I was so pumped up the I kicked Johnny Damon's butt at Madden that I forgot about my camera! The best part of the night was when we went out on a pizza run. We made Seth Mcclung go inside and pick it up. When he got back to the car Prince kept pulling away from him. Every time he got close to the car Prince would move up about 2 feet. Must have went on for a good 2 minutes. He finally stopped when Seth sat on the curb and started crying. Dude take a joke, will ya?"

me too, it may not be him, there is only one legit pic

That's what I was thinking too. Also, his wall posts only go back to mid-June. You'd think people would have talked to him earlier or that he would have had an account before he was called up.

I honestly don't see what the big fuss is about. There are Brewers on facebook and if you don't want to believe that it's totally up to you. I know Prince and Braun were told not to join facebook groups because it violates their contract -- I don't think any them are in groups. Stetter's account is real. I believe he has pic up (or had one up) of him and his brother at Greer Field. It's up to you whether you want to believe it or not, but the names mentioned here as being on are legit (I don't know about Wise though). A lot of the guys are on it because it's easy to stay in contact with friends when they're traveling all over. They're like you and me (except the get paid just a little more) and it's not that odd for them to be on.

It should also be noted that if Braun did post on that group at 4 in the morning that might be central or eastern time. I'm guessing he's back in California right now.

I guess the fact that people are checking all the posts on the wall to see when they started is kind of freaky, but whatever floats your boat I guess. They're people too.

After further delving into the topic (by "friending" Braun, Prince, and Rickie) I'm pretty convinced that they are not their real facebook profiles...I think theres one guy that probably runs them all (considering both Braun, Prince, and Rickie accepted my "friend requests" in a 10 minute span this morning)...it seemed like a guy checked each page and friended everyone, then moved onto to the next player...the picture of Braun is of him signing baseballs, Prince's pic is of him at an autograph signing of some sort, and Rickie's is of him and JJ Hardy (a picture easily found on the net) plus none of the players have their own pictures, they're just tagged by other people....that was a long winded explanation, but I'm pretty sure they're fakes now.

I've got about the same story as Brewbadger. I friended Fielder, Braun, Weeks, Gwynn, and Stetter all this morning. They all accepted, and with the exception of Stetter, they accpeted within 6 minutes of each other. From what I saw, only Stetter appeared to have wall posts from people who actually knew him. Also, Stetter isn't friends with any of the others. I'd say his is the only real one, and the others are fakes.

I'll give this one more shot. It is them. I don't know if they share log ins or whatever. Talking to the Sounds (especially those that were on the Brewers earlier) Rickie got them pretty much all on it -- kind of as a joke at first. Rickie kept nagging on Prince to join and he did. Maybe they don't care who logs in or whatever. Why are the adds so fast? I have no clue. Do you really think one person would take the time to sign up Rickie, Braun, and Fielder and log in all the time to accept friends? And create that profile? I know there is some negative vibes from the season, but these are the guys -- at least they created the profile. Is that too hard to imagine that we have to investigate it? Like I said they are for real and Weeks got them all to sign up.

People who have to much time on their hands? On the internet? No way.

I'm just saying what I've heard from the players. If that makes me delusional, so be it. I really don't think it's all that far fetched and everyone has their right to their opinion. It's just funny because the main reason they made them was to hear feedback from the fans, but I don't think they realize or care for that matter that people don't believe it.

i don't know why everyone is up in arms here. These are fan sites ran by a friend. Some athletes clearly have their own myspace pages to interact with fans (see Charlie Bell). Most do not, and would have no reason to. Its so easy to get a facebook account now (before you needed a school email address at least), that fans of some players may run their own fan site.

I know Inmann has a myspace page, not many brewers though have legit pages.
