Charlie Bell is a cry baby

patrickgpe

I was a fan of Charlie Bell's game, he was one of a very few on the team that actually gave a damn on defense. He had a good stroke from 3 too, but his comments of late have been very disconcerting

First of all here is Charlie Bell's latest myspace blog. http://www.myspace.com/charliebell42

There are other blogs but are similar to this one, just more whining. EDIT: the blogs appear to have since been deleted by bell. Guess he is taking flack for them. The other ones can be found here: jsonline forum

"To the realgm'ers and jsonline'ers and any other fans who want to know

Current mood: happy

Those without sin cast the first stone. I think it's unfortunate that some of you say the Bucks should match any offer that I get so that I will be unhappy. You must be very unhappy in your own lives to seek vengeance on me because I want what's best for myself and my family. All I wanted, more than anything this summer was stability for my family because we have being moving all over the world since I have been playing professional basketball. The Bucks said they could not and would not give that to me. They also said they have no more money because they spent it all on Williams, Voskhul, Storey, and Mason. So when Miami stepped in and was concerned about what I had been through and wanted to offer me and my family the stablity that the Bucks said they could not offer, I turned down Olympiacos offer (THANK YOU AGAIN OLYMPIACOS, the fans are loyal and the owners are incredible) and well, the Bucks had already told me they were signing someone else anyway, so there was nothing to turn down. I just want them to stick to their previous promises to me that they ABSOLUTELY could not do more than 3 years or 3 million dollars/year. NBA players are human beings. We have lives, feelings, family, and values and we want to be treated as such just like you do. No one feels good about being given a life changing 24 hr ultimatum by their employer that effects their entire career and family. Especially when they have been an employee that shows up for work everyday, on time, and when they have done everything asked of them plus some. You and everyone else wants to be valued by their employer, especially if you put your heart into your work and do your best every time you go into work. If your not valued at your current job and you know that you are a good and talented worker, you find another employee who values you and cares about your life outside of basketball as well as on the court. Otherwise all jobs would be created equal. Well, God Blessed me to find that team. And that team is the Miami Heat."

Then you add this quote from today's paper

"I don't know," he said. "It's not in my hands. If it was my choice, I would be in Miami. I don't know if I can give it my all to play in Milwaukee.

He really seems like a cry baby, who says he is appreciative of what he has been given, but is acting like the complete opposite. This city likes to boo its former atletes (to the point that sometimes I am embarrased to be in the stands while the likes of Brady Clark and Carlos Lee are being booed), but this guy deserves what he is going to get when he returns. The fact that the bucks didn't want to pay you as much or extend your contract as long, doesn't mean you need to take it to the papers and blogs. Stories have been out for a week that he will never play here because he feels like he is being disrespected.

I just hope he gets the Gary Sheffield treatment when the heat come here. It would be extra joyous for me if the senator matches what appears to me as a very fair offer considering what contracts are in the NBA these days..

I had to erase my blogs. They were getting a little too much attention. I was upset and probably disclosed information that shouldn't have been posted online, I apologize for that. I want to start by saying that the Milwaukee Bucks is a great organization and I really appreciate that they gave me my first real shot at the NBA after being a superstar in Europe. I've played for them for 2 years on a minimum salary deal and averaged about 28 mpg. That's a blessing.

But I guess there is a time when decisions have to be made. This is a big business and I understand that the Bucks are trying to do what's best for them financially. They made their decision based on that. I won't make this a shouting match between me and the Bucks, or argue $ amounts of offers, etc., I'm too much of a professional for that, but I will say that because of this, I have decided that unfortunately this year I will not be signing with the Milwaukee Bucks. I actually expected them to have signed someone else already like they said they would if I didn't take the deal they offered as it was in the 24 hr deadline. My disappointment in the way that they valued me considering how serious I have always taken my job and the effort and pride that I put into my work overwhelmed me last week. I know it's a business and I shouldn't take it personal, but it's easier said than done. I understand that they are loaded at the guard position now and have fully established players in those positions. I know, as they told me, that their funds are very limited now because of this. I also understand that I am not a top priority at this point, and I am o.k. with that. They have very, very talented players signed already and the sky is the limit for them. I know they don't really need me now, so I will be with another team because I no longer have the desire to play with the Milwaukee Bucks. I wish u guys the best!

That's from the "jsonline forum" link patrick provided. It's from Bell's MySpace, and dated Sept. 15th.

from that i got that he had previous blogs (prior to the 15th) and he erased them and praised the organization. 2 days later though he decided he was gong to let it rip again only to delete them 1 day later. I think this technique of going through your blogs is childish. If he didn't want to come here, fine. To do it the way he has been doing it is not cool. In fact i can't name another fa that used myspace to rip his previous organization and divulge things that were said during contract negotiation.

If you want to rip the bucks do it through the newpaper or the tv stations. Then there is a permanent record of what you said. To go through your blogs and delete them one day later is immature and takes alot less risk and heat off of you.

I don't think Royal Ivey is a difference maker, to say the least. He seems more like competition for Lynn Greer. As of right now, they have no backup at all for Redd, and Bell would seem to fit the #3 guard spot perfectly.

Desmond Mason disagrees.

I can't believe the Bucks won't match that small offer, so I assume he'll be back as the #3 guard.

You don't give bench players 5 year $18 million contracts. Now just this once I'd probably match the offer because of Bell whining and saying he doesn't want to play for the Bucks and how his heart wouldn't be 100% in it and blah, blah, blah. But you can usually find similar production for the minimum.

To be honest this doesn't whiney at all. I think that the bucks looked at him not as a starter but as someone who would come of the bench. I don't think you pay that much for someone who comes of the bench. I mean what was he supposed to do accept less money when someone will give you more. I have no problem with Bell because its just business.

I don't think you know the whole story here. He got a 3 year $9 million offer from the Bucks. He wanted more but couldn't find a team to offer him more so he whined how he was being mistreated and how he wouldn't play hard for the Bucks anymore even though they did and still do own his rights and can match the Heat's offer if they so desire. He was treating himself like he was an unrestricted free agent when in fact he was a restricted free agent. That rubbed a lot of people the wrong way.

Gadzuric is in the midst of a 6y/$36M contract. All NBA players make a fortune. $3.6M for 24 minutes of decent play is par for the course, or maybe even a bargain.

Right my point exactly. Why would you pay that much for a guy who is going to get about 30% of available minutes at his position?

Not a big fan of his game, and I really wouldn't be upset if they let

him walk. That said, after this I kind of want to see them match the

offer. Bell is lucky that the Bucks gave him a chance to come back

over here to play. Maybe he should go back to Greece, Italy or

wherever... the Bucks matching might force his hand, no?

$3.5 million in the NBA is absolutely nothing. $3.5 million locked in for 5 years is great for a 6th or 7th man. Really don't now what you guys think NBa players get. Keep in mind the mid-level exemption, you know what basically exists to sign role players, is $5 million.

I don't think anybody disagrees that Bell is worth about $3.5 million. The point of this thread though is how Bell whined to the media about the Bucks and how they "mistreated" him and how he "couldn't give it his all" if he played with them while he is still technically their property.
