Robin19 released [reply 251: New contract - a must read]

RightFieldCoder

Brew City- It was announced Wednesday that Robin19 has been released and is now a minor league free agent. After six years of playing in the

minors, Robin19 was publicly angry about not being called up. Robin19 repeatedly complained to reporters that he wanted to play on the big league squad, but

after six years he was still stuck in AA-ball on the other side of town. Robin19 met with the GF to discuss his lack of upward mobility. Sources report that

they argued about the style of play and direction of the franchise. After several hours of negotiation it was finally decided that it was time for the team to

try other players. The sources also say that it was a calm meeting.

"I'm obviously upset things didn't work out with this team," Robin19 told reporters on Thursday. "But there were no hard feelings

between me and the GF. It was just clear things weren't working out. I was upset I wasn't moving up to AAA, and I guess I should have been more

proactive in talking to management about it. In hindsight it was a mistake to talk about it to the media and not sit down and talk to the team about it."

When asked what he plans to do next, Robin19 said he would spend some time his family and then try to find another team to negotiate with. He did not rule out

the possibility of negotiating with his old team again.

I've been a free agent for quite some time.

I plan on staying that way unless my agent lands me a blockbuster deal.

Front-loaded deals with a player option is the only way to go. Signing bonus is a must. But first, have your agent contact a competitive divisional team of your former club and put together a quick deal for the remainder of the season.... Shatter some playoff dreams while staying in the game.

Anyone considered the Japanese League? They've been known to hand out some nice contracts.

I've always wanted to play in that league.

I am on the Jack Wilson plan.

Goofy-looking and horribly under qualified with no discernible talent with a HUGE contract that makes dumping or trading impossible.

FTJ - we must have the same agent. I'm a one-tool minor league talent with a huge major league contract. One good season is all you need.

Man, the Japanese league woulda been interesting, if not fun. I bet winter ball in Mexico would have been fun, too. Oh well. . .

Robin19 - hats off to taking this with a sense of humor and starting the best thread I've seen in a while.

You could look into going into coaching or the front office?

Coaching is no fun, whenever you get that "coach" label put on you, they never want to give you a chance to get on the field, even if you have more tools than the guy they just signed to play.

Brett, I think the equivalent to a 10-day contract might be a minor league deal with an invitation to spring training (big league camp). Once you get your foot in the door and can display your abilities, even in a spring training game, you just might make the kind of impression that could net you a roster spot.
