In non-breaking news, Jeff Weaver stinks. (Mariners pbp guy, "And Weaver cannot throw a strike." )

 

His line? 1 1/3 IP, 6 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, 1 K, 45 pitches - time to call it a night!

 

WOW. Yanked after issuing two straight walks with the bases loaded

 

EDIT: That'd be a WHIP of 6.000. Holy moly.

 

EDIT 2: Relief pitcher issues a 4-pitch walk, pushing the score to 5-0 TB. Next batter he gets to ground into a 5-2-3 double play, and get outta the inning. That was weird.

I'm so bummed about the Mariners, I was hoping for them to get the wild card. If anyone wants to talk collapse it should be the Mariners, ~20 games over .500 to ~5 games over .500 in about a month or so, less I think. Granted the Yankees were coming anyways.

 

Still, the bummer in all of it is how much they've been losing, yet still would be in first in the NL Central.

Jeff, you've been my favorite non-Brewer since your days with the Tigers. I've always loved your gangly delivery and trailer park good looks. But man alive you've really lost it. Last two years, even with STL, just awful. ERA near the moon, WHIP > 1.50 two years running? Yikes.
