Scanner question/problem

jaybird2001wi
I am busy trying to transfer all of my old newspaper clips onto jpg files so I can create and electronic clip portfolio. But the problem I have been running into is that the clips are too big to fit on a traditional scanner, so I may have to cut my clips into sections. But I don't want to ruin the hard copies that I have or I don't want the electronic versions to look crappy. How can I make it so I don't have to bring out the scissors every time?

A couple of thoughts off the top of my head - hopefully others will see this and improve on them.

Scan parts of each to separate pics and piece them back together with an imaging program (i.e. Photoshop).

Also, if some are small enough, take them to a copy machine, copy in reduced size, scan them, and then blow them back up with software.
