What are you afraid of?

Believe it or not, I have a total phobia of small pea-sized and pea-shaped objects. That is why I never eat peas and whenever Halloween or Christmas rolls around, I hate it when people take the foil off the little chocolate and roll it into tiny foil balls. It kind of disgusts me in a way.

But I am afraid of spiders and centipedes. Snakes don't really scare me all that much, unless I know it is poisonous.

Heights/flying. On my trip to Vegas this spring, I was not very festive, spending most of the entire flight gripping the armrests and blasting my ipod.

So you headed straight for the Stratosphere and boarded the "Insanity" ride?

I have the same phobia.

I'm a chronically anxious person, so yeah, I've got some fears.

I tend toward hypochondria, and so a big fear of mine is disease (like dread diseases - I've learned not to ever read stuff like webmd), as well as general age-related degeneration. I worry about this stuff both on behalf of my loved ones and myself.

I won't fly anymore (I did once, when I didn't have a choice, and didn't like it). It's not just my fear of heights, the pre-2001 fear of flying, or the post-2001 fear of terrorism. It's also that airline service is so awful, by virtually all accounts; why should I reward them with money if I can find another way?

I also fear being alone (like abandoned, not just solitude), the unknown, bats, snakes, and the circus in general. And definitely spiders! as well as most (but not all) other kinds of insects. I'm sure there's more, but if I list them all here I'll be up all night.

Somehow, I can handle the pea sized objects, though. As long as they're not pea-sized/shaped insects.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

Birds.

No, it's not because of the Hitchcock movie and no, I haven't seen it.

"His whole life is a fantasy camp. People should plunk down $2000 to live like him for a week. Sleep, do nothing, fall ass-backwards into money, mooch food off your neighbors and have sex without dating... THAT'S a fantasy camp."

One of my phobias came to light today. I have a big fear of people getting upset with me (yeah, I probably have issues with an overbearing father). I'm down in Atlanta for work and took a tollway to get to where I needed to go. I went in one of the toll lanes and there was no cashier and I had no change. So I'm sitting there absolutely panicking because there's a line of cars behind me and I can't move because the gate is down. I kind of laughed later at how spastic I must have looked beeping my horn and waving my hands at the girl in the next cashier booth over.

Heights, but I'm gradually getting over it. My goal is to one day learn to hang glide.

I'm also afraid of whales. Do you realize how big those things are? Imagine being underwater and seeing a foggy outline of an 80 foot whale in the distance....shudder....
