Sorry if I missed this in another thread, but what is his status? For all the hype that surrounded him last June, I haven't really heard much else?

I'm not the most qualified to answer, but I'll give it a shot.

 

He'll probably start this year in rookie ball, which doesn't start for a little while yet. My guess is he is in extended spring training, but until he starts playing in games, you probably won't hear a whole lot about him.

Should we look into this as he is behind the development of other prep ptichers or this organization has learned of its mistakes from Rogers? The pitchers we have drafted in the top 5 rounds have been in A ball the next season until this point with Amundson and Jeffress, is there anything that can be read into this?

Jeffress has power but can't throw strikes yet. This is very common in pitchers his age. He's a prospect we should probably know more about in 2 years or so.

he was a high-school guy, right? not out of college? isn't that usually the standard thing to do with really young guys, let him have his first full pro season in the rookie/instructional league before throwing him into higher pressure situations like A-ball?

though i'd think he'd hit low-A by the end of the year if he does ok in rookie.

I would like to see the brewers move Jeffress, 'JJ the younger', very slowly through the system. With our depth from A to the majors, we can afford to do this.
