Best bar to watch "The Game"

Beast Light

I went to Major Goolsby's for the first time on Saturday night to watch the Badger's game. I thought that the place was really cool and a great location to watch a game. Typically, my friends and I go to Buffalo Wild Wings to watch games but it is starting to get old. I also only recently realized how expensive Buffalo Wild Wings is. They charge over $8 for 12 tiny wings. If you stop for 3-4 beers, a dozen wings and some fries, you are almost certainly looking at $30. My question for everyone out there is: Where is your favorite spot to watch "The Game" and why? The game can be anything ..Brewers, Packers, Bucks, Badgers ..etc. With my limited exposure to Milwaukee, I would have to say Major Goolsby's for the following reasons:

1. TV screens are everywhere

2. Good deals on pitchers

3. Reasonably priced food

4. Good crowd

5. Nice feel to the bar

6. I got to meet "Freeway" the first time I was there (By the way, wasn't there a thread about him not too long ago?)

What are your picks? I am interested to hear and looking to learn something!

Last year, almost every Sunday me and my buds went to WoW on Farwell for football games. Sadly, its closed down now.

These days, I love the BBC, Gametime (esp on Friday nights for Brewer games -$10 all you can drink miller and all you can eat brats).

In Madison for Away Badger games my family would go to the Kollege Klub on Lake St. It was never crowded they have a couple big screen tv's a couple other games on aswell as the Badgers. The food is good and along with the drinks the price is not high.

They also have darts/pool which is nice for someone like me who likes to play a game or two while watching the Badgers.

Are you serious? $10 all you can drink beer and all you can eat brats? I am going to go and make them seriously reconsider offering this dealhttp://static.yuku.com//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/happy.gif

That is an incredible deal. I have been to BBC's, just not for Brewer games. I will have to check it out.

In addition to the list of characteristics that Beast Light presented, I think that a decent sports bar should have:

- HD televisions, everywhere.

- Comfortable booths.

- Free high-speed wifi

- All the extra cable packages (NFL Sunday Ticket, MLB Extra Innings, etc.)

To be honest, I haven't found a sports bar in downtown Madison that I would grade an A+. Babe's is decent but it's all the way on the west side and for some reason they keep it dark as night in there at all times.

I am sorry to hear that. My friends owned WOW but just could not generator the business they needed to keep it going. It was a great to place to watch UFC too.

I have done the Gametime thing for the past three years with friends on Sundays for the NFL but my friends who went this past week said it was horrible. The food always sucked but they said service was worse than ever and the beer tasted bad. We are now going to try BBC but are also looking for other bars on Sunday with the Ticket and beer specials.

Now as for Goolsby's, I am just not a big fan. The food is not that great and Freeway shows up. I personally cannot stand him. He is one of the most annoying people I have ever met. He used to stalk a buddy of mine to the point to where he would show up at the bar we all worked at looking for him. We had to lie to Freeway and say that it was my buddies twin brother working and not the guy he was looking for just so he would leave. Also, never give Freeway your cell number no matter how hammered you get.

I live close to Babe's and almost never go there. I don't know if things have changed, but a few years back, it had a real elitist attitude among its patrons and staff. I felt like I should be thanking them for being open for me.

I used to go to Coach's over on Grand Canyon Dr., but they went under. Actually, the bar at Schwoegler's (bowling alley) isn't too bad since they remodeled, but I really don't do the west side for watching sports. I'll stay home and have buddies over here.

Club Paragon on Hwy 100 and Oklahoma is the place.

Reasonable food. HD everywhere. Cheap-ish beer. Lots of gameday specials. And a shuffleboard table!

Zimm's, on Milwaukee & Mason, is pretty awesome. Lots of HD TV's cool black and white pics of Wisconsin sports legends, good food. It took them a while to work out some bugs, but the last few times I was there it was a great place to watch a game. I also really like Hooligans and BBC (although BBC is a little too smokey most of the time).
