The Office - Season 4

sbrylski

I just found out the chick that plays Karen is Quincy Jones' daughter. Her name is Rashida Jones. I had no idea her ethnicity was half black. I always thought she was Italian or something.

Maybe this should have gone in the "random pointless thoughts" thread. http://static.yuku.com//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/wink.gif

Oscar's been in a bunch of Reno 911 episodes too.

Finally got around to watching the season premiere. It was okay, not near as good as they have been. I hope they get better from here on out. Doing a run for rabies was very funny in it's own right. Also Creed asking about what types of pain killers Merideth was on was funny.

Edit: Oh and Im on the Pam better then Karen side. Jenna Fischer is a hottie in The Office and have you seen her in Blades of Glory? Nice!

"I think they could both do better."

It's awfully ironic that the very same show that took off due in no small part to iTunes (and the iPod / Christmas Party episode) devotes an hour-long episode to the evils of technology....right after NBC leaves the iTunes Store.

(And, for the record: Pam. Karen can't smile like that.)

When Michael drove into the lake that was awesome. Great laughs. Dwight and Angela made for some good TV, too.

I am on the Pam > Karen side. It is a no contest. Karen did wear way too much makeup.

Maybe I'm crazy, but I would really like to see less Steve Carrell time on the episodes. I know he's supposed to go too far everytime, but it just lasts too long sometimes. He is, by far, at his funniest when interacting with Dwight. It's the only time his character has balance.

Also, when Creed approached Ryan after the announcement I was laughing so hard. Creed is hilarious. But the funniest scene, IMO, in the episode is when Jim and Pam approached Toby about signing the 'relationship' document. Toby: "let's just wait and see." Toby is a vastly underrated character.

Agreed. I think the actor that plays Toby does a fantastic job. And Creed is my favorite character on the show now. He rules.

And I disagree about the car scene. I thought it was a little too much. The beauty of Michael's character has been you could almost justify some of the stuff he's done, but no one would ever drive a car into a lake like that. Now, Dwight's attempts at bravery after they were submerged were hilarious, I just thought it was a big reach to put them in that situation. Other than that I enjoyed the episode.

Yeah the Toby scene with Jim and Pam telling him that its just a casual thing so we will wait and see was classic. Remember the episode last year where they were at the bar and Toby spent the entire time winning a stuffed animal for Pam, and then she gave him back to him for his kid.

also kelly faking to be pregnant and then cutting to a scene with her shaking her head no was pretty funny. Her showing up in that dress and then wondering if Ryan was in the office today was good too.

I thought the whole list of 'that's what she said' lines that Michael wrote down were hilarious.

One of my buddies, who's a casual Office viewer, made a good point last night. The Office seems to have more kick to it when you're exposed to it for more than 30 minutes (22 w/commercials) a week. While the shows are funny by themselves, it seems like watching the show in a block of at least an hour makes the shows that much funnier. There are so many little running gags and dry humor that a casual viewer might not "get it" from watching an episode or two in isolation. That's part of the reason I've liked this longer format - while there aren't as many jokes per minute, the funny ones have room to breath and the set-ups get a wider berth.

And they really need to get Sir Ben Kingsley to guest on the show someday.

Creed, with the dark hair, reminded me almost of Christopher Walken. So that was extra-creepy... but super-funny.

So when do we begin the Michael Scott Deathwatch?

Oh my God! Yeah he did remind me of Walken now that you mention it. The Red Bull comment and him saying he was 30 was just great.

"He smells like I would imagine Pierce Brosnan to smell."

That's the line that killed me.

Also, did anyone ever visit the "NBC Office" web site about a year ago or so. They had this great thing where you could enter someone's phone # and it would call that number with a funny message from Dwight. You could pick from 5 or 6 different messages. The weird thing was that you didn't have to register or give your name or anything. I was kind of surprised that someone didn't complain about it...maybe they did, and that's why it's not offered anymore.
