I just can't tell you how proud I am tonight. This team really showed us something. This win was so important for morale. We really needed this one.

Jeff Suppan pitched a great game tonight and he 1 bad pitch. I hope the Suppan critics can at least admit he pitched well tonight.

It's not like this was the first game Suppan has pitched well in. He had a 3.90 ERA in August, and is off to a good start in September.

Ya, Suppan has pitched very well as of late, he just doesn't have the wins to show for it.

Also nice to see Fielder hit #43 tonight, making the chase for the Sexson/Thomas record not all that close now and less of a point of pressure during the final days of the season.

This one is huge. It's the kind of win that may actually convince a talented team it can go all the way. Rickie Weeks -- I don't know what it is, but I've had this gut sense about him. He just seems to have that eye of the tiger, like if he can will himself to do something that helps the team, he'll do it. Will hasn't been enough for him most of the time, but he appears to have his swing and his confidence back, and he's ready to play a leading role.

 

I've said some unkind things about Scott Linebrink's performance, and I still don't like the trade, but I need to give him props tonight -- he was a big part of a huge bullpen effort. Turnbow doin' it clean like Ian McCulloch; Cordero locking it down on the road . . . this one is absolutely huge.

Hopefully this outing for Cordero will get him over his road woes and he can get back to the Coco we all know and love. He, along with everyone else, will be needed hugely down the stretch.
