Bought an iPhone? You got screwed.

I don't really think anybody is getting screwed here..they weren't going to be $600 forever, and the additional $200 was for the people that just "had to" have it. If they had the cash to spend, more power to them. They did so with the understanding that they are 'overpaying' to be the first one on the block to have one.

Apple is denying that it is falling short of its sales estimates..doesn't look like investors are convinced though.

As someone who uses his 30 GB iPod primarily for audio & video podcasts, I can see the appeal of the iPod Touch. The small screen (on the 5.5 Gen iPod) doesn't do the greatest job displaying watchable video. Having a much larger device that is almost entirely view-screen has real merit. I'm also fairly certain that I have under 8GB of data on mine right now (music & video).

It's not compelling enough for me to want to buy the iPod Touch (or an iPhone), but that's the one I would buy if I didn't already own a perfectly good iPod.

Good new from Apple. Steve Jobs wrote a letter about those who bought the iPhone at $600 and is offering a $100 Apple store credit for those that bought the iPhone at the Apple store or AT&T.

That is pretty nice of him. Im sure Bill Gates would have never done something like that.

The credit is a nice gesture..but a very shrewd one. I think to say that it's "nice of him" as though it was a gesture completely out of goodwill would be a bit of a mistake. It covered up a potential PR nightmare, and people still have to physically go to a Apple store or online to iTunes to spend their $100. Why not a $100 check in the mail or a $100 credit to their next phone bill instead?

But with that said, something is better than nothing. At least it will encourage people to worry less about shelling out a premium for their next product.

I'm very happy and content with my 30 GB video ipod. I don't plan on updating to anything from that for a very long time.

And Im happy and content with my very simple cell phone that simply calls, texts and can hold maybe 10 pictures.

i second both of these comments. i love my ipod...even though i would have never in a million years bought one for myself.

i also still dont get the hate for ipods. i suppose if you had a bad experience with one. i have had to reset the thing once or twice, but beyond that it has been fantastic (knocking on wood)
