Ryan Braun's 28th HR...

DannoMac21

Am I the only one who just couldn't wipe a smile off my face after seeing that HR? My God, I loved how he reacted, that was just awesome. It shows that he has no fear, and doesn't feel like he is the rookie. That was just awesome. I'm a cocky kid, and I probably would've reacted the same way he did.

actaully, I think you will be one of the only ones that loved how he reacted. If you want to look for a second at the HR, fine. You don't do what he did. We have had this discussion early in the year wether Braun was cocky or confident. I think for the most part its a cocky confidence, but that was down right cocky and uncalled for. In his next at bat he did apologize to the catcher and hopefully that saves him from a drilling coming in houston. Loved the HR though.

What Braun did was the deffinition of bush league IMO. I like Braun a lot but I was hoping he'd get one in the ribs the next AB to teach him some humility.

Cockiness or confidence are fine. Showing up the other team is not. This isn't the WWE.

I told my wife that if we weren't in the middle of a September pennant race, Ned really could have shown everyone who is boss by benching him right then and there.

Honestly, I didn't think anything of it. I thought he was looking for Prince, as if to say, "I caught you, big guy." And, watch the highlights again and check out Fielder's homer tonight. After he crossed the plate, he put his arm around Braun and said something with a smile, almost as if to say, "Your turn, rook."

I don't know what was said, obviously. It's just my interpretation.

As for cockiness, overall I hate it. In the Braun article in Baseball Weekly last week, Braun explained it thusly: "When you're at Miami, there's that swagger because you get very emotional, very passionate. Sometimes I get too excited."

Oddly I think the cockiness was more directed at the bench, and possibly Prince. I had noticed in the first inning, Braun had ripped at a pitch and missed, and then after Prince's homer, it appeared Prince was ribbing on Braun some after coming around the plate. So Braun may have been trying to respond to that.

Regardless, it was a young kid's mistake, one he's made more than once. I don't mind a confident walk out of the box when you rip one, but that was pretty bad.

I didn't notice Berkman yellng at him until Rock pointed it out the next inning.

Albert Pujols watches his homers all the time, but he's regarded as one of the greatest young players around. Heck, STL television emphasizes it by keeping the CF camera focused on Albert for a few seconds after he hits a fly ball (homer or not).

I like his cockiness - to a point. I like the swagger that the entire team has at times, but this crossed the line in to "showing up" the other team, especially with the way we manhandled the Astros tonight. Admittedly it can be a fine line at times, but that's why Yost got into his ear in the dugout. No biggie, he's a kid - with tremendous talent - and he's learning.

On the other hand, I'd cheer my back side off if he did that against a certain pitcher to our south. I'd love to see some of our guys give it back to "Z" the same way he does to us. (Hypocrisy noted)

Although cockiness is not tolerated in any sport, but when was the last time the Brewers had a guy with some swagger out there? I am not all for showboating and stuff, but I think some of Braun's mannerisms and attitude can be considered a good thing.

Ryan Braun could be by far one of the most marketable guys on the Brewers. He is young and I never ever judge a fellow male, but he looks like the kind of guy that women of all ages want. If he sticks around Milwaukee and continues his string of home runs, high batting average, etc. he will be a very loved member of the Milwaukee athletic community. Besides, it may have been his upbringing, he is from sunny SoCal and then went to U of Miami so I can't blame him for the swagger.

I have been wanting for years to have a guy with Braun's swagger. He is a rookie, he doesn't know any better, and it is up to the veteran guys to put him in his place at times. But through time and experience, he could develop into a very good player. Being a Milwaukee Brewer is tough to say the least (no National attention until this season, etc.) and it can be a good thing to see a guy love his own accomplishments in Milwaukee.

His cockiness brings a such a swagger to the team it's undeniable. I love it when players watch their homers.

The HR tonight reminded me of a Manny Ramirez-type trot and I loved it. I can't get enough of this stuff.

You can catch the video of it on the Brewers' website. It's about halfway down in the middle of the page under 'Sights and Sounds' and aptly titled "Braun's three-run dinger."

Watched the ball for less than a second, turned towards the dugout, flipped his bat a bit, looked towards the dugout for about 2-3 seconds then took off on a light trot. If you go to the Brewers website you can watch the highlight of it, should be on the front page under that headline box.

He stared at it, then walked slowly out of the batter's box, while staring into the Brewers' dugout, then flipped his bat very 'matter-of-factly.' There's pretty much little to no arguing that it was anything but lowdown arrogant fluff. Check the Brewers' website; the video is at the bottom of the game re-cap story on the front page.

Watching the Cubs and Cardinals games a lot, I see a few players on both teams who do these types of displays of cockiness and frankly, it makes me hate the players with a passion. When it's your guy, though, it feels almost gratifying that you have one of "those types" on your side and seems to bring an edge to a team. Hardy, Weeks, Hart, Hall, etc. all seem like boring 'good guys' and it's kind of refreshing to see a little life and vigor from one of our young studs. Maybe instead of hearing Cubs fans hate on Prince because he's "fat" I want to hear them hate on our guys because they're cocky, arrogant, great players. That, my friend, is Ryan Braun.

It really wasn't much. Yea, when you watch it slow-mo it looks kinda questionable but come on. Is it any worse than a pitcher pumping his fist and skipping off the field? It's not like it was cheap one either like guys like Aramis and company watch where it ends up just being a double or flyball. It does feels good to finally have a guy with a swagger.

Consider it payback for Coop trying to psych out Coco the night before.
