Sollman continues to rake with 2 hits in 2 ABs so far today. Anyone recall a guy that played both 2B and 1B in the majors?

Jeff Kent and Hank Aaron spring immediately to mind. Hank didn't play that much at either spot but he did play both. Howie Kendrick did it last year.

oh sorry homer, I didn't realize you were referring to a specific guy, I thought you meant generally.

edit: pretty funny that Mark Loretta struck out former top prospect in baseball Ruben Rivera in a major league game in 2001.

Final: Huntsville 11, West Tenn (Mariners) 3

Stars Finish Strong against DJaxx

Mel Stocker and Adam Heether each had two hits and drove in three runs to help pitcher Lindsay Gulin overcome a rough start in Huntsville?s 11-3 win over West Tenn Tuesday afternoon in the series finale at Joe Davis Stadium. The Stars took four out of five to improve to 23-20 and move into a first place tie with Tennessee in the North Division, while the Diamond Jaxx dropped to 19-26 and five games off the pace. The Stars doubled their win total at home against the Diamond Jaxx in comparison to last season when they won only two of the 15 games against their division rivals on home soil.

The visitors got to Gulin for two runs in the first on a run-scoring single by Erick Monzon and a Matt Tuiasosopo sacrifice fly. The Stars bounced right back to tie the game in the home half of the frame when Stocker doubled and scored on a base hit by Steve Sollmann, who then scored on a Ruben Mateo groundout after reaching third base on an errant pickoff attempt by West Tenn starter Doug Fister.

Brent Johnson led off the third with a home run, his third, to give the Diamond Jaxx their last lead at 3-2. Gulin gave up only three singles the rest of the way and wound up going seven innings to pick up the win in his longest start with the Stars. He allowed six hits, walked one and fanned eight to match Manny Parra and Sam Narron for the most by a Huntsville hurler in a game this year. Robert Hinton and Luis Pena tossed a scoreless frame in relief to cement the Stars sixth win in their last seven home games.

Brendan Katin?s two-out double in the fourth sparked a four-run rally that featured run-scoring hits by Heether and Hernan Iribarren and a two-run triple by Stocker. Fister was taken out after four innings and suffered the loss to drop to 3-3 after allowing six runs on eight hits, while walking two and striking out one. Juan Sandoval, who gave up Katin?s game-winning home run on Sunday, took over and allowed five runs on five hits and a hit batter in the fifth. Drew Anderson and Katin singled in runs, Heether doubled home a pair and Stocker plated a run with a ground out. The Stars scored 34 runs on 53 hits in the four wins in the series and had at least 13 hits in three of the four wins.

The Stars open a five-game series Wednesday night in Mobile with southpaw Sam Narron taking the mound against BayBears? right-hander Chris Kinsey. Coverage of the game begins at 6:50 p.m. central time on SportsRadio 730 WUMP and can be heard through the internet at www.huntsvillestars.com.

Huntsville Box Score:

Steve Sollmann's OBP is .467 -- the Youkilis comparisons aren't far off, although Youkilis debuted with Boston age 25 in 2004, and Sollmann is 25 and in AA, but there's definitely something to look at there; Brendan Katin single, double, HBP...

interesting to see Braun leading off.

I guess theoretically if he can have a decent OBP, the Brewers could have him leadoff while adjusting to big league pitching, allowing Weeks to slide down a bit (or perhaps hit second). It would allow Weeks to--at least theoretically--swing for the fences more, and Braun to just focus on working the count and making contact.

Also, check out the numbers on Memphis' starting RF. Sure would make for a great story. And wouldn't it be crazy if he were forced to pitch because of a 20 inning game, and thrived. The odd thing is that Ankiel never had great command, yet people acted like it vanished.

Or it could be trying to give him as many PA's as possible the next few days as they want to test the wrist out and he's very close to a call up (maybe just a matter of days)

your idea is much more likely. It'll be fun to have his power speed combination in the lineup with Weeks, Hall, and Hart (when he plays)
