Thank you everyone for your help. :-) So it looks like Stetter is going back to Nashville to help the Sounds win a PCL title. That's my guess at least for this move. Unless Cappy is going to be released. I dunno.
I doubt either, You can have 40, so there is no sense to not have Stetter up here, even though Bray should be here and Stetter in Nashville but whatever.

What I wouldn't give to have "Stormy" in this pen right now...

On a brighter note, I totally remember that article in the MJS. It was during the Foreman craze and all the players were talking about how handy the machine was and things of that nature.

Ours hasn't been brought out in a year or so...maybe I'll fire that thing up tonight now that Ray King is a Brewer once again...(trumpets sounding)

I think Ray King cannot be added to the playoff roster through the DL loophole. If memory serves, the injury replacement guys still have to have been in your own organization as of Aug. 31st. If that's the case, no Ray King for the playoffs.

I like this move. For the last 2-3 years I haven't figured out why they didn't go get him when he was available. Like the pic with Weathers. Wish we'd gotten him back, too.

I'm glad to see the "portly specialist" back, our bullpen definitely needs help, and atleast this is another guy to get out lefties instead of saving that role just for Shouse, who now can be used for more than just one hitter, considering he's been close to, if not our best reliever, as of the last few months.

This is right. Ray won't be eligible for the post-season roster. When the Brewers traded Eric Young to the Giants a few years ago, it was the same situation but reversed. A guy has to be in your org. by 8/31.

I'm happy to see Ray (and Mike) back.

one of the two players (king or rivera) are easily added to the 40-man roster by transferring tony graffanino to the 60-day disabled list . . . which has been done, according to brewers.com. (they claim mike rivera's spot is made available by graffanino's removal from the roster.)

what are viable options to get a spot for ray king on the roster?

could mike jones be put on the 60-day disabled list?

could the player to be named be someone off the brewers' 40-man roster?

would the brewers try to outright a player or release him unconditionally?

Is there going to be enough room on the bench for all of these guys? You would think they might be breaking the fire code by having approximately 36 people on the bench at all times

Especially when one of them is RAy King. Maybe we should get Wickman too. Talk about beefing up the bullpen.

Rivera is indeed being listed on the Brewer roster on the Brewer website. I would assume it's because Miller's injury and the fact they want (and need) to run for Estrada late in games and to do that, they need 3 catchers.

Mike had a disappointing year at Nashville but still had good power numbers with 19 HR and 61 RBI and even played 3B the other day.

They transferred Graffanino to 60 day DL, but I still count 41 on ML roster. Somebody has to be dropped. Here's hoping Spurling is the PTBNL and he will be gone.

As for King, what took them so long? I guess Stetter didn't impress the other night.

He can replace a DL'd player, if need be.

Are you sure? I thought a DL'd player can only be replaced with a someone a part of the organization on August 31.

preface that with, "to be eligible for postseason play," and you're correct.

however, a roster spot still needs to be cleared for ray king. transferring a player to the 60-day disabled list is one way to achieve that. another way is for to complete the trade with washington by sending a player currently on the brewers' 40-man roster. another is to outright or release a player currently on the 40-man roster.

the brewers have just over 24 hours to make that decision.

Although I like this move, which I have asked for quite some time, I agree with patrickgpe: why wasn't this done earlier?

Bowden is notoriously difficult in trade negotiations. Maybe he was previously asking for Bill Hall but recently got wind of Mel Stocker, Darren Ford, and Lorenzo Cain? Melvin finally loosened up and put Steve Hammond on the block? Hard to say...
