I'm in the flow of the game! Gotta play the percentages, I'm due! Even though we're without Woogie and it feels like the ship is sinking, the guys here, we're pushing the water out!

... yeah, that's enough Ned impressions from me for the day. Backe is coming off Tommy John surgery and is making his first MLB apperance in over a year. Villanueva is expected to be on a pitch count anywhere from 75-85 pitches.

Dodgers (Penny) vs. Cubs (Trachsel), 7:05pm

Pirates (Morris) vs. Cardinals (Pineiro), 7:10pm

... as always, feel free to delete if Woogie can make it. I was just feeling inspired. http://static.yuku.com//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/happy.gif

Here's to hoping the Brewers can get 5 innings out of Villanueva tonight without ending up down by 4 runs early.

On another note, does anyone else think that Kevin Mench with a beard and his hat off looks a little like Vader, the former WWF wrestler?

Unless this is a blowout, we are bound for more discussions on how Yost uses the bullpen because of Villanueva's pitch limit.

Hopefully CV is good for 6, but 5 is more likely. With Cordero and Shouse certainly available, that leaves 2 innings of uncertainty. I think Turnbow should be available- although he's pitched 3 of 4 days, he only threw 6 pitches on Sunday. Can Linebrink go 3 days in a row? Otherwise we see Capuano, Wise, McClung, Aquino, Stetter, or Spurling in the 6th.

I think if Villanueva is done after 5, Yost has to try Capuano, Wise, and McClung to get through a couple innings. If none of them work, have Shouse and Linebrink ready, but hopefully he can wait on them in case Turnbow has problems in the 8th.

Any other thoughts?

The bull pen will most likely pitch 4 innings. My bet is that innings 6-8 will feature a mix of Spurling, Wise, Cappy, and Stetter. If we are losing big (which I think we will be), look for Cappy, Wise and Aquino. In a close game, look for Spurling, Shouse, McClung and maybe Stetter.

A few other thoughts:
I see Villy getting knocked around and Backe pitching one of those gems against the Brewers, something only a Rookie or someone coming off an injury can do to us.

Why did we not see an appearance by Capuano on Saturday? We have not won a single game he's pitched in in how many months, and Yost cant throw him into a game when we are up 10 runs? Anything that can give this guy 1oz. of confidence is crucial for the rest of this year for our team. At least throw him in there in the 9th inning to let him finish off the game. Hell, even if he gives up 3 runs we still win, and he still gets one of the several monkeys off his back!

I don't really see us losing big in this game with the way our offense has been putting up runs. Not saying we will win necessarily, but nothing that has happened in the last 5 or 6 games leads me to believe that we will struggle to score

Something to help Ned make his decisions tonight:

I get the feeling we will definitely see Capuano piggybacking Villanueva, and if Carlos can go 5 I'd expect Ned to use Cap for the 6th and 7th and start the 8th with Shouse if at all possible, otherwise Linebrink. He most likely will give Bow the day off. We may actually see Wise for the 6th and 7th, too.

Capuano threw 66 pitches in relief of Parra on Thursday. I'm sure they need to treat him almost like a starter and let him sit for 3-4 days. However he's now had 4 days of rest so I'm sure he'll be available tonight.

Any word on if Ray King will be here tonight?

And nice chart blingster.

Now that there's funny--I don't care who you are. Very nice. On my way down there again.
