Rather than intentionally walk Esatrada, why wouldn't they just throw four pitches in the dirt and have him get himself out?

My ten-year-old wondered if Estrada was going to swing at that first IW pitch

Holy crap watching Estrada run from first to score was one of the most painful things I've ever seen.
