Official Alumni Thread

Mass Haas

Below is the complete Brewer Alumni Report for 2007. Please be aware that players are shown within each organization, so that if a player appeared with more than one organization, their stats for each will be linked in each team's group.

Also, some of these players were released mid-season, and of course, many will be available to join new clubs this offseason.

If a player was on the Brewer 40-man roster but never appeared in a game for the organization (Javier Valentin, for instance), they will be listed. But if a player was once Brewer property but not on the 40-man and never appeared in an official game (spring training cut), they will not be listed.

This is simply a reference for you to see how former Brewers fared in 2007. The years listed in parentheses are the years the players were with the Brewers chain.

A complete list of independent league player stats will be compiled in a couple of weeks as well.

I can't promise exactly when the National League portion will be complete, but you'll likely see me add one or two teams each day over the next week or so. Thanks for your patience.

If you're aware of an alum who saw action with an American League organization in 2007 that I have not listed, please let me know within this thread, thanks.

And feel free to comment within this thread, such as "hey, the Blue Jays may have themselves an inexpensive effective reliever in Brian Wolfe for the next few years -- they actually 'won' the Corey Koskie trade".

Steve Palazzolo, the 6' 10" pitcher the Brewers released at the END of spring training, adds injury to insult on the Brewers give away of good potential prospect types this year. After 50+ innings and a 2.14 ERA in the Can Am league for the Nashua Pride, Steve signs with the San Francisco Giants organization! Good luck big guy!

Midway through the 2003 season, Jason Shelley put together a stretch of six consecutive starts in which he allowed a total of one earned run for Rockford, prompting the Milwaukee Brewers to purchase Shelley's contract. In his first game in the Brewers' organization, Shelley tossed a complete game shutout for Double-A Huntsville, striking out 10 and walking no one in what was one of his most memorable moments.

"I remember making that start. I had not played Double-A baseball before and when they signed me, they sent me straight to Double-A. I remember pitching well enough that summer that I knew if the opportunity had been there, I could have pitched in Triple-A or maybe the big leagues."

r.a. dickey signed a minor league contract with the twins and has been invited to spring training as a non-roster player.

if the brewers would not have had injuries at catcher in september (prompting the promotion of mike rivera), i'm confident dickey would have had his contract purchased instead.

RHP Patrick Lawler, a bit of a late-season surprise release by the Brewers, has signed with Winnipeg of the independent Northern League.

Lawler, 24, went 3-0 with a 3.45 ERA in 2007, fanning 23 in 15-plus innings over two stops in the Milwaukee system after signing as a free agent out of NCAA Div. II Grand Canyon University.
