Parra to DL, Aquino in Milwaukee Friday Night

Premptive sarcasm even though I have no idea why he's going on the DL (I will retract and apologize if he's on the DL for a hangnail or the like):

Innings limits are bogus! These guys nowadays are wimps.

if a player is on our team's DL as of today, are they not still considered to be on our major league roster and can they not still be used in the play-offs? I believe so

I thought vargas' injury was rather fake and i don't really believe melvin's comments about how parra really hurt his finger. I think this is more of a move by melvin to sneek Vilueneva back on our roster before 1 September while keeping both vargas and parra on the major league roster. Do the brewers have any more Dl moves they can use, so we can add more players to our roster before tommorow?

"Melvin said he got hit on the finger and that it's pretty tore up. "

Oh. I apologize and retract my sarcasm.

Can you really take a spot-starter's place in the rotation?

(Hadn't we already guessed that CVilly was going to take the Capuano slot in the rotation; wasn't that supposed to be the point in stretching him out in AAA.)

My dad has the exact same complaint. I wonder if a research could be done on the topic of why starters today are so much more fragile then "back in the day".

You have to remember that I am pretty young so I wouldn't remember those days.

Nashville Media Notes:

AQUINO CALLED UP: Right-handed reliever Greg Aquino was recalled by Milwaukee this afternoon to replace former Sound Manny Parra on the Brewers' pitching staff. Parra was placed on the 15-day D.L. today after suffering a displaced chip fracture of the left thumb during last night's game against Chicago.

I dont think Vargas's injury was to fake, you want to talk about a farce injury. Elmer Dessens going on the DL when we called up Braun from Nashville. That came out of no where.

what is a displaced chip fracture? is that the same thing as a hang nail? or is it when your finger nail breaks and you have to cut the hanging piece off? or was parra referring to the chocolate chip cookie he displaced. or is it the chip to his ipod phone that was fractured?

at least the brewers are being creative in describing the alledged injury.

A displaced chip fracture would be where the tip of his thumb bone is broken off and "floating"...pretty much it is not in a place that is going to heal itself in my opinion, unless they know where this chip is floating. This is of course if it is actually a displaced chip fracture.

I also don't think it's a good thing to refer to pitchers nowadays as wimps. Look at the Brewers history with injured young pitchers. All that first round talent no longer playing baseball. I think it's the smart thing to do because Parra wasn't even really in the Brewers plans the beginning of the year (on the big league level that is). The veterans didn't do their job, so we don't need to burn out arms because of it.
