join me? (Beard-A-Thon)

flosses like fossas

the other night i was telling my brother that i cant decide whether to go forward and rock an end of summer beard or to trim back to my normal scruff. as the conversation ambled along, i suggested maybe i shouldn't shave until the brewers get eliminated and we tossed it around - it stands to be said that i can't grow a very full beard and haven't ever committed to more than just having "not trimmed it back in a while". and it got me thinking: with all the "slump busting" and "turn this thing around" and "what are we doing to help the brewers lose" talk around here, maybe we kick in by banding together. the brewers need us, the faithful. so i'm proposing it, officially. join me in the 2007 don't shave until the brewers are eliminated BEARD-A-THON! (avrock, i know you've got a serious beard already, you're in for sure. bikeage77, i need you, buddy.) i'll go so far as to offer up my flickr page for weekly photo updates to all participants who will email me photos. for posterity's sake let's allow for manicuring (neck beard optional, that kind of thing). this could be a huge preempt to peeing your pants when the crew get in the playoffs. get on board!

I'm in. I shaved yesterday so I have a ways to go but I should have a full beard soon enough. Maybe I'll shave after I have a full beard and put the hair at Wrigley and maybe a few players sprain an ankle getting tangled in it.

Month long suicide beards?

Sounds like fun but I think the employer would frown upon that.

I'll go with the beard but I would have to keep it somewhat trimmed.

I don't know if that would go against the point behind the beard-a-thon.

I haven't had a hair cut since January and I don't want to cut my hair until the Brewers are done. It's getting tough because my hair is passed my nose, but I still will hold out until the Brewers are officially out of it. I'd throw in the beard too, but I'd prefer not to look like so much of a hippie.

I am just like bacon. I have not had a haircut since April of '06 I plan to keep it until I find a need to cut it like if the Brewers don't make post season or loose in post season. So I can do the hair thing but like bacon said I don't want to look like a hippie.

After this loss I feel like shaving my head.......

Loss or not, I buzz mine (not bald) every two weeks.

As for the beard, I'd need more than a month to grow one that didn't look pathetic. Geez, I only shave once a week as it is.

disclaimer to the wary: do not question the strength of your beard alone. if you must, question the strength of all our beards itching and annoying our girlfriends/(boyfriends?)/wives in unison. sparse and spotty or course and dense, curly, straight, scraggly, whatever, we need you. besides, one of the inevitably great biproducts of a thing like this is seeing peoples' combined meager and impressive contributions. i, for one, happen to already know that my little brother is going to grow the scraggliest, saddest, perhaps most disgusting "beard" of anyone participants, so fear not.

time to check in! dudes, pm me your photo updates or to get my email address. i'll be posting beard-a-thon updates on my flickr account (www.flickr.com/photos/johnmurn). i don't want to jump the gun, but this ship certainly seems to be floating a tiny bit steadier since we started with this manly show of solidarity.

edit: added positivity...
