Sheets' blister--blessing or scare?

DHonks

I was just thinking about the Cubs' series, and now it looks like the Crew will line up with Sheets, Vargas, and Gallardo in the 3 games. While I wish it were someone other than Vargas, his pattern seems to say that his outing will be decent.

Are you sure that Sheets is even starting against the cubs? I would think that its 50/50 at this point. Also if he does pitch how sharp can we possibly expect him to be when he hasnt pitched in more than a month.

I agree but the way most of the rotation has pitched this year I'll take my chances with a rusty sheet instead of a soupcan, a cap or a bush.

i realize this probably isn't the thread for this, but it still irritates the heck outta me that they are going to take Gallardo out of the rotation. He's easily the most consistent starter and we're in the middle of the playoff run. I dont think this is the time to play it by the book as to how many innings he should pitch.

I will be too pissed for words if we blow out Gallardo's arm to try to eek out a playoff spot where we will likely lose in the 1st series. The Brewer's playoff window is just opening probably next season, why on earth risk your young studs arm now. It makes no sense to me for them to be so short sighted.

A blister under an existing blister *shakes head*....It's like the baseball gods just want to make this as difficult as possible on us.

I'm not sure I'd ever heard of the double-blister before Sheets' most recent problem. But I'd never heard of vestibular neuritis, either.

ender, from all that I've read, this season we could go over Yo's limit for innings and he'll be fine this year. It's the following year that is the issue. Realistically, we could build him up slowly, skipping him often in April, and in effect getting him ready to pitch in our rotation around May 1st-10th, getting him roughly 5 months in. So basically, we could treat his April in AAA as a spring training, and thus we'd be giving him extra time, while limiting the stress on his arm in year 2.

the problem with most pitchers is that after having a dramatic increase in workload, the following year it is expected that they'll perform at the same level, when in reality the teams need to be careful either on the front end or the back end. Yet for some reason, teams will push these young arms both on the front and back and.

We're talking about innings limits in at least two threads:

I think we can stick to the topic of Ben's blister in this thread. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.
