Brave DFA Wickman; Signs With DBacks

gmanspack

1) as a 28yo Brewer fan, I'll take being the midget team in the playoffs than putting it off for another year. If anything, it would give our guys "experience" of playing in the post-season.

2) last year all I heard was that the AL would win whoever the NL threw at them and that the Cards were the midgets. But if a team gets hot in October, they can win the whole thing no matter the talent division of the teams.

I agree that sometimes you have to recognize when the window is open, but the time is now for what exactly? What is the goal?

And why does not acquiring a mediocre relief pitcher effect the outcome of the plan?

Seriously, if Bob Wickman was born in Idaho no one would have even mentioned it when he got released.

Anything can happen...but usually doesn't.

To suggest that the Cards weren't a pretty decent team last year is silly. They were well over .500 the majority of the year. Their 83 win season was for more a result of a couple losing streaks and a slump at the end of the year, than their WS title was a result of them simply getting hot in October.

This years NL Central teams on the other hand, have been pretty consistently bad, and have had their records bolstered somewhat by hot streaks at one point or another.

a lot of people on this board were cutting down a guy named Wells as having nothing left and would not be a contributer for this team. What has Wells done since being acquired by the Dodgers off waivers? he's won two games and given up a combined total of 4 runs for those two games. not bad for a worthless fat, washed up pitcher. if Wickman was so bad, why did the dbacks claim him?

After today's game, whicjh move would I have prefered melvin to make? Claiming Wickman off waivers? or his tremendous trade for king?
