Welcome to Jaybird's middle of the 8pm hour update:

Midwestern weather continues to wreak havoc on a pair of games in America's heartland with the delay of both the Atlanta Braves and St. Louis Cardinals in the National League while the Detroit is being pounded by weather coming up through middle of Illinois, causing the delay of the New York Yankees and Detroit Tigers match up. The weather does not seem to be holding up according to the National Weather Service radar, which could likely cause the cancelation of the game tonight.

The Cardinals are currently in the thick of things in the National League Central, emerging as the dark horse in a divisional which the Cubs and Brewers have struggled to gain some ground on each other within the last three weeks. The Tigers are looking to observe newly called up Cameron Maybin tonight against the Yankees, which they could be forced to wait another evening to observe the phenom drafted in fifth overall in the 2005 draft.

Update: the Cardinals and Braves have made it onto the field.

Updates from National League games:

The San Diego Padres are continually pounding the hosting Philadelphia Phillies by a score of 10-3 behind Adrian Gonzalez two home runs, giving him 23 home runs on the season. The Padres also received an home run by Milton Bradley, giving him eight home runs since being acquired from the American League Oakland Athletics. Both Bradley and Gonzalez have pitched in three RBI while Phillies' Jamie Moyer could not last through the fifth inning, giving up 10 hits and six earned runs.

It's been home run city in Cincinnati with the score 4-3 in favor of the hosts. Both teams have combined for four home runs entering the top half of the 9th inning as the Reds will attempt to shut down the visiting Florida Marlins.

Mets' Oliver Perez had a 3-0 shutout entering the eighth inning of play before being yanked in favor of Jorge Sosa due to Perez's final pitch count being 118. New York 3rd baseman David Wright has paved the way with a solo shot and an additional RBI.

Washington and Colorado made two quick strikes to make it 1-1 as the Rockies are still in their first inning of play while the Pirates are up 2-1 against the hosting Houston Astros.

Updates from the American League:

The Tampa Bay Devil Rays continue pouring on runs against the visiting Athletics with the game 12-0 in favor of the D'Rays. The D'Rays have played small ball, yielding only two home runs from both BJ Upton and catcher Dioner Navarro. The Athletics starter lasted just two innings, allowing 6 earned runs while his bullpen counterparts have equaled the load with two earned runs each.

In game two of the day-night doubleheader, the Major League best BoSox are drenching the ChiSox 9-1 with two home runs from designated hitter David Ortiz, a Green Bay resident in the offseason.

Minnesota and Baltimore are going toe-to-toe with a 5-4 lead in favor of Minnesota.

And That, believe it or not... since you are one of the admins, can I be responsible for the IGT thread updates of non-Brewers games? Like do quick one paragraph recaps of the games? This is the first time I have ever edited the initial post and updated the scores and it is kind of fun.
